Ideally the media should but given how fluid and dangerous this situation I'm not sure how much they can. I've never been to an active war zone but after being in the midst of the riots including the breaching of a police station in the George Floyd riots I saw how chaotic and difficult it was to confirm anything. Seeing what was reported by news services like CNN and the major networks I give them credit as they didn't get it all right but they also weeded out a lot of stuff that was circulating and couldn't get corroborated. In my own very brief stint as a reporter was also during a riot In Berkeley while as a student. I was assaulted by some looters breaking into the Gap so it was very hard to accurately report. None of that is close to having bombs dropped and bullets flying around you. Also yes MSNBC is shilling so much for Hamas they have an IDF spokesman on this morning. I suppose I missed when they had the Hamas spokesman on for counter point and made Mika wear a hijab.
I'm not sure I get the point of your post in response to the one I made. What do you expect Biden to do?
They literally just regurgitated exactly what the Hamas Health Ministry told them. They did no fact checking. They are a shill for Hamas They didn't ask Isreal for their take. They didn't try to see the site for themselves. They didn't confirm with the US government. They didn't even bother to question how Hamas knew the body count instantly. That's not fog of war. that's just being a bad journalist. Perhaps the reason your news sources are wrong is not fog of war, but because you hold them to no standard at all
The AP, NYT, and WSJ report what the Hamas-run Health Ministry said and what the IDF spokesperson said.
The US intelligence independent from Israeli sources or statements by Hamas appears to indicate it was likely a Palestinian rocket. Funny how the supposed leftist media isn't hiding this information. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/live-blog/israel-hamas-war-live-updates-rcna120978
I don't usually post this stuff from social media, but if this is verified to be real.... it's a smoking gun.
Israeli influencer apologises for Gaza hospital misinformation as blast kills hundreds (msn.com) Israeli internet star apologises Naftali quickly apologised on Twitter, claiming he was simply quoting an article he had seen on Reuters. “Earlier today I shared a report that was published on Reuters about the bombing at the hospital in Gaza which falsely stated Israel struck the hospital,” he wrote. “I mistakenly shared this information in a since deleted post in which I referenced Hamas’ routine use of hospitals to store weapons caches and conduct terrorist activity.” He said “I apologize for this error” and added: “As the IDF does not bomb hospitals, I assumed Israel was targeting one of the Hamas bases in Gaza.” Naftali shares new tweet The internet user then shared a new tweet about the blast, writing: “The mysterious explosion in Gaza. Hamas blames Israel for this.” “I believe it is either a failed rocket that hit the hospital or something that was done on purpose in order to get international support.”
It's not the first time Israel launched an attack on civilians and won't be the last one. You can believe whatever you want to ease your conscience, but the facts are different.
So we have Hamas that is well known for lying We have Israel and the IDF that is well known for lying And we have US intelligence that is well known for lying. Are people seriously trying to debate one is more credible than another? This is like sports fans saying another fan base is more toxic when they all are equally toxic.
Headlines are by nature limited. Driven by click bait. Folks should be better informed consumers of media.
I don't remember, but I think it did. As I said in the other thread - the explosive headlines can easily lead to confusion if one doesn't read beyond them. It's a general issue with breaking news.
So I'm an idiot. But can someone explain this... I was at the gym this morning, watching closed captioning to an interview with some kind of Palestinian spokesperson, who repeatedly was calling for a cease fire. A week ago, these dudes were storming a peaceful music festival and killing innocent civilians, murdering kids in front of their families, and kidnapping innocent people. What happened? You reap what you sow. If you're a gazelle, don't provoke a lion. (Especially after you blow up your own hospital?) Please educate me....
