Probably struck the broken neck and some other stuff.

It was always a long shot, the best bet was Adam Silver and a 50 Game suspension and hoping nobody would touch him, forcing him to go overseas.

At least you would not have to see him for a couple of years.

“Monday’s hearing resulted in reduced charges for Porter, who now faces only a third-degree assault charge. Also, a full protection order against him was reduced to a limited protection order. Porter's attorney did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com's request for comment.”

Her and Amber Heard are two of the biggest fakes around....ugh.

Back on topic, do you guys think Adam Silver will rule now? On a suspension? Or will he just continue waiting?

My bet he can either wait till the court rodeo is over or he can do it like he did with Primo and wait 8 months.

For 8 months another NBA team will not touch him because officially they are still investigating the matter.

I would suspend Miles Bridges a second time as well.

If that happens and the Rox don't drop him won't that cost more money NEXT year too? I mean his contract becomes guaranteed for the next 2 years over this season I believe, or at least partially...

Anyone seen @BimaThug for an answer?

What is clear is that the NBA is not going to cancel that contract now for a misdemeanor assault charge......so the Rocket should probably waive him......even if Silver doesn't rule.

Calm down, I'm not talking about you (this time!).

"What happened last year that was so awful that you wouldn't want to START the season seeing if Ime could make a difference? Ime and Silas are VERY different types of people."

"If KPJ is acquitted, then what? I predict by how Stone has treated KPJ in the past, the Rockets will still keep him, possibly try to trade him, but probably not cut him. Even if the NBA decides to suspend KPJ, he could be considered innocent if he hasn't been proven guilty and the punishment by the NBA could be considered sufficient. How the team, owners, and coaches think of KPJ will determine what happens. I'm hopeful that KPJ can be coached and be an awesome player"

DD, you should occasionally read posts other than your own or the ones who quote you. :D

Waiving was always the least complicated path.

They wanted to see if they can trade his lousy arse, they probably cannot.

They have to weigh the pros and cons and see if they wait for Silver, I would not wait for him. There should be a dead line.

He qualified that by saying that all of that was BEFORE the DV stuff, if you are talking about Kevooo - he literally was talking about what he hoped before the DV happened.

The Rockets have hidden behind the league saying they can't cut him for this - so enough time will need to pass where they cut him for BASKETBALL reasons - like he has no place on the team - that can probably happen pretty soon one would think.

if you just limit him him to a catch and shoot person then might as well just play Cam Whitmore who has a way better first step and lot more athletic than KPJ.

Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. didn’t break his girlfriend’s neck during an alleged fight at their hotel, Manhattan prosecutors admitted in court Monday – as they said they’d drop one of the assault charges against him.

Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Mirah Curzer said the office was tossing the charge of second-degree assault against Porter, 23, because of “insufficient evidence,” after it was revealed that the NBA player didn’t actually break girlfriend Kysre Gondrezick’s neck.

“What initially appeared to be a fractured vertebrae was not in fact an injury caused by the defendant,” Curzer told Judge Jay Weiner during Porter’s hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court.

Prosecutors initially said the savage Midtown hotel beatdown on Sept. 11 left Gondrezick – a former WNBA player – with a fractured vertebra.

But documents reviewed by The Post showed the fracture was actually a congenital defect and did not come from the row.

Weiner agreed to drop the charge, but warned Porter – who was dressed casually in a white track jacket, jeans and sneakers – to stay out of any further physical altercations with Gondrezick, 26.

“I don’t know what your relationship is with the complainant,” the judge said. “But if things get heated, you have to be the one who walks away.”

The pro baller – whose full name is Bryan Kevin Porter Jr. – still faces charges of second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault.

He would still face a maximum sentence of seven years behind bars, if convicted on the strangulation charge.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office offered a plea deal on the lower third-degree assault charge – with the condition that Porter undergo counseling – but he rejected the offer, Curzer told the judge.

Porter, who lives in Texas, has been free on $75,000 bail.

The NBA star and his girlfriend had been staying at the Millennium Hilton New York at 1 UN Plaza when Porter allegedly relentlessly hit her and strangled her until she couldn’t breathe.

Gondrezick – who used to play for the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky – fled the room and was found by a hotel employee in the hallway, prosecutors have said.

The Rockets are trying to trade Porter and said he wouldn’t be with the team as they start training camp and the preseason in light of his arrest.

Porter is due back in court on Nov. 27.

The prosecution didn't drop or lower any charges, that they haven't already said they would.

They dropped the second degree assault one, because as we already knew, he didn't break her vertebrae

So, two of the original 3 are still the same.

    1. Second Degree Felony Assault -- dropped because he didn't break her vertebrae
    2. Second Degree Felony Strangulation -- unchanged (Max 7 years, with minimum of 2 years)
    3. Third Degree Assault -- unchanged (Max 1 year)

And he is probably staying in NY because he has to show up every month or he is flying in.......but at least far away from the team.

To be honest, none of you know whether or not KPJ is ready to play team ball. The Rockets tanked the last 3 years. Hindsight, why give a damn how players played (or how a coach coached) when the goal was to lose games? When you really think about it, sucking at playing team ball was a good thing or else there's a chance Amen wouldn't be a Rocket. The players seem to like KPJ. It's Rocket fans who can't stand him.

Probably true but he sabotaged himself in College and he sabotaged Cleveland.......if you cannot be a team player off the court.....you are not getting the chance on the court.
