They don't back out immediately, but remember she said she has given NO STATEMENTS to the police - this is important - and the only thing that has been said.

It is why I think they might be working on a side deal to get her to recant.

    Just my guess...tbh.

And most cases where the girl doesn't testify or doesn't cooperate get dismissed....IIRC.

You are missing the point, the DA doesn't NEED her to testify, but that makes the case VERY hard, and they usually drop those cases because of that.....DA's like to have a high win rate.

I know HP said that, but if you look at stats, most cases without victim cooperation are dismissed, and almost all that aren't are settled to a lessor charge.

Our goals as fans should not be whether he loses in court (merely 1 way among a few) or anything but to hope .....
    • Massive suspension by the league
    • Being cut or traded by the Rockets
    • If he returns, he is out of shape or he is a journeyman which is the last step to being out of the NBA
    • He is done as a player

Look, he is a streetballer, there is a good chance he would never turn into a 3 and D role player teams desperately needs, teams do not need scorers, they have that in spades.

    (Dribble, dribble, dribble)

In addition is a distraction and piece of ish of a human being.....which NBA teams already know.

Hopefully she is smart enough to never go near him again. Men who do this once will do it again, and worse.

Do ppl actually believe that his absence is the reason why we play good bb? His personality wasn't the reason why we looked worse than Shangai Sharks in last couple of years it was because of that stupid pg experiment. I bet you if we had him on the wing and fvv at 1 we would still win our 2 preseason games. He's a damn good shooting guard in fact better than Jalen imo. Obviously he's a scum but you are kidding yourself if that's what you believe. He's a streetballer yes when he's at 1. It all turns to isoball he starts doing weird **** because he can't playmake but when you limit him as a catch and shooter he will do well. By the way if he's a streetballer than Jalen also is a streetballer. You can't just s.it on KPJ and turn a blind eye on Jalen's zero defense, turnovers, occasional tunnel vision, forced 3's. Just say that he was a piece of garbage and leave it at that it wasn't really his fault looking dogshit at 1.

Most dropped cases happened in private residence with no witness, and the accusation was often done after the fact. This case was done in a hotel. The immediate aftermath was seen in a public area. The arrest was done in the context of a 911 response.

Prosecution without the victim's cooperation does make the case more difficult but not impossible.

Besides, you are talking about the criminal court case. Criminal prosecutions do not always reveal the truth. I am no legal expert. What I know is that there are tons of technicality to protect people from being wrongly accused. That does not mean that if a person is acquitted, the truth of them having committed the crime can't be plainly seen. That's why a lot of times, when the criminal case is unsuccessful, the victim goes the route of suing in a civil suit, which is easier to prove someone liable. So even if KPJ is acquitted in a criminal case (a big if), that does not mean the league and the public cannot see what he has done.

This is correct. I expect this whole thing to be settled out of court, which will obfuscate the facts to the public. If it is not settled out of court, the lady in question will take it to civil court and absolutely own KPJ and the public will have access to the case. There is always going to be a moral vs practical aspect for the victim in this case. It is a tough position to be in. On one hand, you can suffer through the months and possibly years of public humiliation and an un-relenting press to receive generational wealth and deliver KPJ a well deserved punishment or save yourself the scrutiny and take less money. Prosecutors will have a tough time proving anything without her cooperation.

The public also has no idea what KPJ’s financial situation is. We know what his contract is now, but not how much he has in the bank? If the NBA (not likely) negates his contract, how much money is available to the victim? If KPJ is charged with a felony, the NBA may negate his contract. How would that affect the victim’s compensation? There is also the possibility of the victim suing the Rockets, if more surfaces about their complicity in his behavior, although I think this is highly unlikely.

It's all semantics anyway. The probability is that he did it, the D.A. will take a plea deal, he won't do time and he's out of the league forever. If he was just unbelievably talented it'd be different as we all know, but he isn't. He's been a basket case for a while and he's likely going to get arrested again a few times down the road and eventually end up where he should've in the first place. Jail. Hopefully he doesn't hurt too many more people down the road though it is incredibly unlikely. The guy is a sociopath and a loon. The sooner we can scrub this forum of any news of him, the better.

Some people you just can’t help or change. Pride has brought down whole empires, because to their core you are dealing with sociopaths.

Some people live in a different reality, I don’t know KPJ, but I do know he’s willing to forego a lucrative contract for his pride with a girlfriend. Seriously, If he still wanted to exploit his NBA body count, he should not have gotten a girlfriend. But some people want to have their cake and eat it too.

Easy to say, he actually had an Ex- fiancee of sorts who moved for him from Cleveland (who was also from Seattle) who was mobbed by him and Kysre......so it was not a nice transition.

So he had a law suit against her in 2022, he has millions but I would not be surprised if he used up a little for that.

Guys like KPJ rarely keep their money - they generally are broke within 3 to 4 years of leaving the league.

LOL @ all these "I still don't understand why we can't give KPJ a second chance" people.

Even for a second removing his impact on court, letting him rejoin the team would make our FO the laughingstock of the league again, just a few weeks after we're beginning to shed that image.

As far as ON the court, we're finally playing like a team again. Why bring back someone who simply doesn't see the game that way?

You guys make zero sense. You're grasping at any way possible to not appear to be as dead wrong as you all were.

Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. was seen in Manhattan criminal court on Monday for a status hearing following his September 11 arrest on domestic violence allegations involving his girlfriend, former WNBA star Kysre Gondrezick.

Monday’s hearing resulted in reduced charges for Porter, who now faces only third-degree assault charges. Also, a full protection order against him was reduced to a limited protection order. Porter's attorney did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com'suest for comment.

With his hair in braids, the 6-foot-4 Seattle native appeared with attorneys on his way in and out of the Manhattan courtroom. Porter was wearing a white jump suit made by Italian luxury fashion house, Moncler.

    -----------------------------------------------

Already it starts, now it is down to 3rd degree assault, and his protection order is reduced.....thanks to @daywalker02 for link.

Here is the punishment for this:

While first and second degree assault in New York are both felonies, third degree assault is not. Third degree assault is a class A misdemeanor that carries with it a maximum sentence of one year in jail.

He will plead down, and get at worst community service - and if she recants or doesn't cooperate, likely dropped charges all together.....

The Rockets are going to be stuck trying to figure out what to do with him, no way they cancel that contract now - he will likely be John Walled....
