You said it right this team will be fun to watch under the last coaching staff my time was better spent doing something else.I actually have a life an would rather spend time doing other things. I feel bad for you that you had to grind those seasons under Silas.
Yeah but its not a 99% thing, its like a 60% thing IIRC, so its better to play well in the pre-season than to play poorly. Personally I wasn't really convinced last year either, I remember thinking Green's shooting looked better but I just don't remember being wowed. It felt more like a "This is just preason" thing for me. This year the vibe feels different.
I don't even need to "brace" tbh. I don't actually care if we win a single game, as long we look like a real NBA team whilst we're losing. All I need to see is X's and O's and real game strategy and structure. Add in consistent effort and eventually as it all comes together the wins will come. We haven't played real professional structured basketball at all under Silas, all I care about is seeing us become a professional squad. Once that happens we've got the talent in place to grow into a playoff force.
If this team is brutal for the first two months, we won't be even sniffing the playins and will likely surrender our lotto pick to OKC (who are already leagues ahead of us in their rebuild)
More like your spouse in her dream and then she wakes up and kicks you out of bed complaining about the odor.
I mean, when you actually have to tell people "you realize it's 1 game right" then you also have to ask yourself if it's worth bothering to reply to those posts. A person who thinks "such and such sucks" because of 1 game is not going to be the person who goes like "yeah, you're right it's just one game and we had a ton of roster/coaching turnover". For those of us that are optimistic, we're going to have to exercise a lot of patience on the board early in the season. There's people who are just negative on the inside and they are that way in every aspect of their life. Those people try to cover up their negativity with stale jokes/sarcasm because they know what's inside them. They will try to drag you into a debate with loose goal posts. It's just not worth it, they will be that way with a 20 win team or a 60 win team, doesn't matter. To give an example, you'll find those same people are the ones who were so melodramatic about our team culture the past two seasons. When I would tell them that culture can be changed in a matter of months with right coaches and vets, they didn't believe it. They thought it would take ages to undo. They're the same people now wondering why things haven't changed already. They just like to complain. It's not nefarious or anything, they're just people dealing with childhood issues. This game cracked me up. Seeing Amen's face after he got blocked like "f*ck this is so hard". Seeing Green try really hard and get blocked twice by the same guy. Brooks was our most efficient player? Hahaha. I was hoping we'd win, but there's a huge bright side to getting punched in the face game 1. It strengthens Udoka's position and lets the guys understand they have a lot of work to do. The defense was very good for 3 quarters. We'll get there.
I’m not panicking over one game but to be fair I counted Orlando as one of the winnable games in the OP, the tough part of the schedule hasn’t even started yet…
