First off in Gaza most people there think of Israel as the country that suppresses their economy, limits their movements and every now and then bombs them. They know that Hamas also fires rockets and commits terrorists acts against Israel but it's probably hard to see the other side when you're being held in what has been called the "World's largest open air prison."

Also cooperating with Israel likely means death.

If you look at the history since the Oslo accords it has been difficult for Palestinians to work against Hamas. The PA fought a civil war against Hamas and lost in Gaza. As has been noted the PA has been weakened by collective punishment and in ability to stop Israeli actions.

I think you bring up point let's say, Palestinians decide Hamas obviously takes advantage of them- Hamas only wants death and views the Palestinian people as a meat shield - ... if they go against Hamas, we know this terror organization wouldn't think twice about lopping off some heads, including their entire family- it's a tough situation because I think there are some people in Palestine that realize this Hamas situation is not working out but what can they do?

we know that Hamas is pressuring civilians, not to evacuate- they want that meat shield

I can have a conversation with someone that is pro Palestine, but I cannot have a conversation with anyone that is pro Hamas and thinks they should not be eradicated and serves a purpose- Hamas needs to be wiped off the map and I think after that happens, we can pressure the Israel government to do more for the Palestinian people as long as safety assumptions are met

I think many Palestinians support Hamas because from their POV Israel is the enemy that has been oppressing them. The rest are probably very fearful of Hamas.

The same argument has been made to every insurgent movement. The British told the Irish both in the original Irish war for independence and during the Troubles that they shouldn't support the IRA because they are only going to make things worse for them. Frankly the British told the American Colonists they shouldn't support the Rebels and that it would lead to more death and suffering of the colonies.

As we should know the desire for independence and self-determination is strong. For the people of Gaza who have been living under horrible living conditions for years and are dealing with hopelessness it's understandable why they would support a group that says they will fight by anymeans even if that means the death of many of them.

At the sametime it's understandably why Israelis and others are very shocked and angry by what Hamas has done.

I think it is as unrealistic to expect that Palestinians will rise up against Hamas as much it is that Israel will hold back responding to Hamas.

Trump somehow told Hamas about paragliders and also came up with the idea of attacking on a holiday and setting up fake towns to practice in.

I think the USA has been doing it's best to hold back the IDF from day 1. I'm actually shocked it's been this long.

In all honesty, if all 9 million Israeli citizens picked up and evacuated and dispersed throughout the Americas, Europe and the rest of the world, completely leaving the land of Israel/Palestine from the borders Lebanon to Jordan to Egypt entirely to the Palestinians....

there would still be millions of extremist Islamic jihadists and supporters whether called Isis, Al-Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, Boko Haram, etc who would still want to murder, rape and kill Jews, Christians, Atheists, infidels, gays, westerners, women who don't wear hijabs, girls who want to go to school, people who disrespect the Quran, cartoonists who draw pictures of Muhammed, etc., etc., etc.

What is the answer? How does this change?

And when people talk of "Free Palestine" does that include human rights? It is currently illegal to be gay in Gaza with a prison sentence of 10 years,. Within the last year a gay man was beheaded in the West Bank. Does Free Palestine include women's rights? Currently, women are required to wear the hijab and are threatened or worse if they do not wear Islamic dress code. Currently, it is illegal in Gaza for women to dance. It is illegal for a woman to ride behind a man on the back of a motorcycle (like kidnapped Noa Argamani.) Currently, polygamy is legal (no wonder 40% of the population is under 15. Woman are not allowed to go to a male hairdresser or smoke a hookah in public. Internet cafes and music shops have been bombed and attacked. Many books have been banned, including Palestinian folk tales. Girls have been banned from participating in sports. Kids coed summer camps have been bombed and attacked. The largest waterpark was set on fire for allowing mixed-bathing. Boys have been beaten for wearing hair gel. Men are not allowed to swim without a shirt on. There is even a ban on public dog walking. Christian imagery is banned. A bookstore owner was murdered for selling Christian books. The handful of Christians that remained in Gaza were kidnapped, beaten and forced to convert to Islam

Shouldn't the title of the thread be "Hamas declares war on Israel"?

I know almost nothing about Gaza and wasn't sure about some of your claims. But each time I've looked to confirm one of the claims, ... I easily confirm it with a legit source. I don't think many people know these things.

Not to change the topic, but I am especially worried by what Hamas was planning. It seems like most journalists and commenters and just labeling them terrorists (which they are, by all evidence), and leaving it at that.

But work with me (or pardon me if this has already been discussed to death):
    1. Hamas planned this carefully for some time. It wasn't a rash, sudden act.
    2. Hamas obviously wanted to maximize outrage by committing atrocities, giving Israel absolutely no choice but to respond forcefully, including coming into Gaza.

So, either you have to think they're just "crazy irrational" terrorists who went overboard on atrocities, OR
you have to really worry that they are a few steps ahead, could predict exactly the kind of response to come, and are already waiting for stage 2 of their plan. In that case, something even worse is coming when Israel invades Gaza.

Those are conspiracy theories likely originating from the very reliable social media platforms. The Iron Dome becomes simply overwhelmed when thousands of rockets are launched at it in a matter of minutes, which is what Hamas did.

Trump's disregard for human intelligence could, though, lead to the killing of US and Israeli spies. If those spies happen to be in Gaza, Iran, or even Russia...

Donald Trump's Israel Intel Leak Under Scrutiny After Hamas Attack (newsweek.com)
Donald Trump's sharing of alleged classified intelligence to Russian officials in the White House has come under scrutiny amid a large-scale attack by the Hamas Islamist military group against Israel.

In May 2017, the former president defended his actions after he was found to have discussed sensitive details about an alleged Islamic State (ISIS) plot with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in the Oval Office. Trump said he had an absolute right to do so. The intel was said to have been provided to the U.S. from Israel.

It was suggested at the time that the former president's handing over sensitive information from Israel could have damaged the relationship between the two countries. It also could have raised the possibility that the details could be passed from Russia to Iran, the Gulf nation that is a fierce adversary of Israel and has long supported Hamas.

On social media, a number of people believe that Trump's handing over of Israeli information may have resulted in Iran assisting the Palestinian group.

Thom Hartmann, author and political commentator, posted on X, formerly Twitter, while sharing a 2017 article from The Washington Post: "Hamas apparently knew how to get around Israel's Iron Dome defenses. They probably learned this from Iran. Iran almost certainly got the information from Russia. And who gave it to Russia? Sure looks like it was Donald Trump, at the request of Putin."

Leaked: Dozens of CIA informants killed, captured or compromised: Report | American Military News
    OCTOBER 13, 2021

Last week, top U.S. counterintelligence officials warned Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) stations and bases worldwide that a concerning number of informants were being captured or killed, according to people familiar with the situation.

Sent via top-secret cable that was viewed by DNYUZ, the message explained that the CIA’s counterintelligence mission center had reviewed dozens of cases over the last several years wherein foreign informants were killed, arrested or likely compromised.

In a rare move, the cable reportedly included the specific number of informants executed by adversary intelligence agencies.

The message emphasized the difficulties faced by the CIA as it attempts to recruit spies around the world. Recently, rival intelligence agencies from nations like Russia, China, and Iran have ramped up efforts to track down the CIA’s sources and, in a number of cases, convert them into double agents.

this is just a desperate attempt to somehow if at all possible tie any bad event to trump. It's the common tactic like blaming everything on climate change. I think trump broke yalls brain.

If anything Trump is the first American politician correctly understanding Bibi is gonna get rekt after the dust settles and its better to cut ties now.

Another possibility could include that with the ongoing improvement of relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel there would be normalized relations between the two and that a working relationship between Israel and the country where Mecca is located is problematic for a fundamentalist Islamic theocracy.

That is the closest thing I can see to a "winner" in this horrible tragic mess.

Russia and their ongoing effort to sow chaos and disunity in the west while trying hoping to distract attention from their struggling invasion, would be a distant second.

Honest question. How come the UN hasn't denouce, sanction or label Hamas as a terrorist org yet? U figure an attack like that would warrant condemnation.

I usually don't trust fox news since its not an actual news channel but an entertanment one. Apparently there's an article about that floating around was just wondering if true or just misinformation
