New rules state the tie breaker is the same as divisional rules (so head-to-head). Division winner doesn't matter in the World Series. So RFA still applies for them
I'd root for Philly 100% in that hypo. Honestly, I don't hate Philly that much. We took care of them last year. 1980 was before my time (of course I still wish the outcome was different, but since I wasn't around to experience it, it doesn't hurt the way 2019 did). Plus, they're not media darlings the way the Braves/Dodgers/Yankees are, and I don't dislike any of their players in particular.
So many people complaining about how unfair sitting during the WC round is when teams with the bye were 3-1 last year. Now in only the 2nd year, the WC teams evened it up they want to say it is an advantage to play an extra round. I guess teams better make sure their series go 7 because they wouldn't want to be rusty in the WS like the Astros last year... The Braves just fell flat on their faces, but the Dodgers had so many injuries (and suspensions), and the Orioles had outperformed their metrics all season plus lost their all-star closer.
nothing really needs to be changed with the postseason format. Everyone goes 0-0 in the playoffs. the big boys step up and have their teams prepared to play. The frauds go home. How embarrassing for the Dodgers and Braves my goodness. I honestly would rather have a team lose a 100 games a season and never making the playoffs over whatever those two did this post season. Yikes

Considering run-diff and injuries, ASTROS Experience makes it even more Astros favor. The Dusty factor hurts though.
