That looks very similar to the play Smith ran with FVV during scrimmage, which ended with Smith going all the way to the rim for a decisive dunk. Here, the defending big gets in his path but Smith counters by making the jumper. It seems like Smith's working a lot on this play. If he keeps making those mid-range shots, it's going to be very effective.
I do think that Jabari will end up being the best player from this draft, certainly better than Paolo Banchero. Tari will be one of the best from that draft. Probably Tari best hustle player.
I dont know if he will be better than Paolo. I always wanted him 1st because i thought that he would be a great player when had other talent around him. A type of player that would be in the mold of a Warriors player from the last decade. If Green/Sengun/Amen/Cam/Eason are good Jabari would make hopefully high level shooter/defensive player that does not need the ball to do those things as Amen/Green/Sengun are handling the ball. At least that is what I envisioned before the draft.
Jabari is the key to the chaos. Like Steph. You can't block him. You can't keep up with him. During a Magic workout someone noted how long he went in the workout. There's another player in the NBA known for his long workouts and unflappable conditioning. It's Steph. He tires you out.
somebody in the game thread said Bari might be the next Tatum under Ime. We're all so worried about Jalen/Sengun/Cam/Amen being the guy, but it might be Bari. The defense and the bravado. bro his mid game is almost unstoppable and now he got the 3 pointers going now that he is not a spot up shooter.. Rockets got so much talent now that we got a common sense coach
None of them may ever truly be great. I have no idea but have hope. In saying that to truly be great you don't need a guy, you need guys. If you don't can hopefully sneak in one championship somewhere down the line. Hell even Drexler needed Hakeem. Paul Pierce & Garnett, Wade needed Shaq/Lebron&Bosh etc It's exciting though to see what happens. Especially since these guys were actually drafted by the Rockets. Gonna be fun
I been saying that since before the draft! Looked like egg on my face most of last year It is early, but 2 preseason games in, Smith looks like he is in for a big year
I always liked Jabari over Banchero and Chet. All the CF posters who called him a bust last year better come out with a public apology.
Hey haters... You are in the Jabari wagon now, right? Same old story, idiots who expect 20-year-old players under one of the worst head coaches in the NBA (Silas) to have the same consistency as established stars in the league. Learn to be patient!
Looks effortless for him right now. Let's see if that sweet shot we all expected is finally here to stay. Summer League and preseason ball is one thing, but if he keeps doing this in the regular season, league better watch out
He is the only guy that is mobile and a 7 footer or close to being a 7 footer. He learned from KD this summer and I think he will play more like him. I think Sengün will be the decoy per se and Bari can shoot his shots. A coach that has faith in him. There is no reason to deny the inevitable.
Confidence is a motherfreaker and it seems right now Jabari has that in spades, thru the roof Now of course he may hit a minor slump during a long season but I think the carry over from end of last season to present is legit
I think he eventually will be a better offensive player than defensive player. Maybe he already is. I am not super high on his defense. I don't see any future dpoy when i watch him. He'll be a good defender sure he's 6'11, his feet look fast enough to reset his movement or to stay in front his man but do you think he could be better than let's say Mobley on defense? I don't think he has that in him. Not entirely because of instincts i think he's lacking in there a little too because he gets beat more easier than i thought he would. Mainly because of his athleticism. He actually might be less athletic than Sengun but still i think in his prime he will be 8.5/10 on offense and 7/10 on defense which is good enough. 16.5 out of 20 is top 20 player in the league. Also really liked him a lot in the last 2 games and not just because he's efficient now but also because he's more pleasing to watch now. He doesn't look as stiff as last season his movement looks more fluid. I don't cringe anymore when he drives to the rim. I'm glad he turned things around it seems like i was wrong about him but to be fair he didn't help himself either he looked like a total bust. If a guy can't make a three to save his life, can't pass, can't dribble the whole season what am i supposed to think about him?
Forgot to mention he had kpj role play as a pg when he sucked at it. Having an actual playmaker makes life easier for everybody
Basically just someone who interacts with Alperen, bringing the ball up, pass to Alpe most of the time, and to the shooters.
