Aren’t we a contending team with a window that doesn’t want to commit to a long term contract? You could argue our window is longer given some younger players (Diaz, Chas, France, Brown), but next year is THE year to dominate. I hope they maximize every position, and Bregman maximizes 3rd.
It appears Breg is underrated by his own fans. Too bad. Altuve and Yordan are monsters, no doubt, but Breggy is the spirit of the Astros in the box. He is the epitome of "keeping the lineup moving". He may not always pop a HR or even an XBH, but he works the count, refuses to swing outside the zone, as a consequence takes his BBs, and sets the stage for others to inflict major damage. As a lifetime fan, I've endured generations of teams that lacked exactly that kind of player and seen opposition take advantage of our overaggresion - so excited and flailing to be the hero. For the most part, Alex doesn't. He stays in the moment. His swagger puts fear in the opposition because he just continues to apply offensive pressure. Those kind of leaders are virtually invaluable. It isn't the flood of offense. It is the constant drip of quality AB after quality AB until the boppers break through. And then, when they underestimate him, he pops a wall scraping LF homer and they are completely destroyed. He isn't the pulse of the team. But he might be the blood. I don't want to do without the crucial blood. He does... what he does... with confidence and pride... and it fuels the team... even when it isn't Sportscenter highlights.

On the pitch clock countdown. Think yes, it can be distracting to the pitcher. You hear it. But Focus is an attribute. There's nothing mlb can do about it. This isn't tennis where the umpire can make u shut up and sit down. But I don't think it's good for the enjoyment of the game by the fans.
Blind squirrel blah blah blah Diaz went 0-5 with 4 Ks after it's already been established he struggles to hit when he's not playing defense. Astros overcame it today but there's no doubt we're playing fire by continuing to play Maldy.
