I think you further romanticize the struggle of oppressed people while downplaying the fear of those who suffer from them. I think this is why you're so dismissive of small business owners who's businesses were destroyed in rioting and instead of just acknowledging there is good reason for Israelis to be fearful you jumped to how easy it would be for them to move. Can you simply state that violence towards civilians is wrong without rationalizing it through "normative analysis"? And yes I agree that international pressure should be brought to end the conflict. Just rationalizing Hamas' actions though will have the opposite effect.

Except Hamas (and every preceding Palestinian terror group) deliberately targets civilians…they don’t bomb military vehicles. They target busses. They target music festivals. and this is their MO. It didn’t start with Hamas, they’re just the latest flavor. Someone said they did no favors for the Palestinian people w these attacks. No ****. But they never have. Arafat did the same. He was flying first class around the world and using Lebanon as a proxy while his people were suffering. Millions and millions in funds to help Palestinians were stolen over the years by Palestinian leaders all so they could continue the front of this so called “oppression.” When you attack your neighbor for 60 years and refuse to even acknowledge their right to exist — you’re going to be treated like a threat. If Palestinians wanted peace they would have thrown out hamas years ago. But they, according to polls, still overwhelmingly support them. I don’t think they’ve had an election since Fatah was kicked out but I don’t pay as much attention to the region as I once did.

What Hamas did will lead to the deaths of thousands of Gazans. It will not bring peace to Israel. Israel has engaged in collective punishment of Palestinians for decades. It has invaded Gaza and the West Bank many times. It has already killed thousands of Palestinians. As this weekend shown it hasn't made them safer.
