I remember feeling pretty hopeless down 2-1 in the WS last year, especially after that pitch-tipping HR derby Lance pitched.
Man, this is going to be a tough series to win. They have the pitching advantage in game 3 (maybe 4 as well?), and if we win a game on the road, we'll see Lopez again in game 5.
Many didn't want the Astros to have homefield advantage so here you go. Series isn't coming back to Houston. Astros win two in a rabid fan road environment where they thrive.
in all seriousness, who the **** cares? why would a manager even be talking about this? this comment was from BEFORE the game yesterday. The Astros have played in much more intimidating environments than Minnesota...these are pro athletes, and home field advantage is an illusion in MLB EDIT: i got my tweets confused...this is from Lewis...but yesterday BEFORE the game, the Twins manager said something similar.
Pujols was still maybe our demise. Oswalt pitched again same series instead of opening the WS. Clemens andd hamstring had to pitch in frigid Chi-town.
Yep, it still ultimately hurt us in the WS. But the Astros hung a pennant that year...and St. Louis (and Pujols) did not. But I was really more just using this as an example of how meaningless the concept of momentum is from game to game in baseball generally and, more specifically, in the playoffs. It turns on a dime.
It's disappointing the offense didn't show up and framber **** the bed. It's still just one game though.
Now its a 3 game series and a very motivated JV is lined up for the final game. Javier and Urquidy or France need to man up. But most important, the offense needs to wake up (aside from Yordan) I'm still confident.
It’s my belief all are pitchers will be great again next season. Happened to the Braves last season, their pitchers ran out of gas. Framber, Javier, Brown are running on fumes and the rest didn’t help Framber. For us to win this year, we need our offense to explode
Sonny Gray is next right? He always seems to shut us down, and after that we are throwing Urquidy? Yes, we are in some serious trouble. In years past, we always had our next ace ready to go, and I trusted our offense a lot more to break through against a good pitcher. Even if we survive this series somehow, I expect us to get smoked in the ALCS, probably by the Rangers and that would be too embarrassing to handle. I would rather just lose now if that is going to happen. Rangers have caught fire and are being managed by Bochy, this is his time too. He is a playoff manager.
It hilarious how some fans have watched this team for 6 playoff runs and are still weather vanes after every game. We win, we're an unbeatable juggernaut on our way to another title We lose, we're in deep trouble and are gonna get beat so probably shouldn't even bother showing up.
It's interesting how much fans undergo Groundhog Day each and every season. It was only four years ago we left for Washington thinking we were going to get swept, only to come home four days later thinking there was no way we could lose. Or, hell - who would've thought the Astros had any chance in Philly last year after McCullers gave up 79 HRs in game 3? (BTW, remind who started that game 4, and what happened?) The Astros might lose this series - but the idea the Twins will win it riding some magical wave of momentum that will overcome talent and execution, etc., is just sportswriter/fan nonsense.
