It ended up not mattering because we scored immediately after, but the toss play to the right on 1st down on the final drive was the dumbest play call. Atlanta was set up to defend the run on every 1st down and we'd lost yards on every toss or sweep play, especially to the right side. I can't imagine what game Slowik was watching if he was calling that play on a drive where we needed to score a TD. We did end up scoring but that play didn't help any.
Desmond Ridder hasn't lost at home BTW. This guy always plays decently at home lol. He's currently 5-0
Terrible loss now we have to be the saints to be 3-3 going into the bye hopefully CJ learns from this
Just finished watching the 12 minute version. The forced run game should not have occurred after the 3rd quarter. It was clear way before then that the defense was flooding the o-line. Passes to Pierce for 4 yards would have worked much better. The highest rater LB from last week was out with a concussion, his absence was felt. Perryman was out of sync. Hollman, Diesel's replacement, was not good. 170 yards from their TEs. On the final drive before the half, almost 5 seconds pass before a time out is called. Difference of getting another shot at the end zone. You studied for your teacher's multiple choice exam but then the hooker gives you a written exam instead. It's what happened to Meco. Did everything to stop their run game
I have a very hard time believing we'll beat the Saints. If Ridder can throw for 320+, Carr will throw for 550+. We better fix that defense, and quick.
Looking at our D-line and SF from their win against Dallas, its like night and day. We need more size and speed. They need to go after Reader and Chase.
Definitely not if the 5th CB is starting. There is such thing as overpreparing and the defense fell victim to that. I don't mind if Kamara goes for around 100 at a 4.5 ypc just do the other things. With Stroud you'll always have a chance to take the lead with a minute to go. womp womp
Post game show, Clint Stoener was upset Texans were all smiles after the defeat. That's the NFl and NBA today. What got me was that Dalton came on as a guest and he was pissed off they gave up the lead. This is the TE I wanted. Keep building on the chemistry with Coleridge.
Agreed. To me that was the glaring weakness yesterday...getting pressure yesterday, I believe, would have made all the difference in the world. I don't mean pressure every single play...but if they had generated some consistency to forcing the QB to make decisions quicker, I think the Texans likely win that game, even with all their other flaws. The secondary isn't as bad as it looked...they just had to cover way too long.
In addition with SF being as good as they are upfront, they are bringing in Randy Gregory. The Texans have to get past that "Only Good Guy" mantra and start getting some DAWGS
