I don’t see a arrogant smirk. I see a dude shocked that Jackson would ask such a b*tch ass question. Even Ime had to reposition for that one. Stone said exactly the situation “any issues like this” aka meaning “there have been maybe a couple small things but the dude never beat the **** out of his girlfriend before” The team also probably didn’t want to campaign DV. These are young kids. You don’t want to start the season making the kids feel like they are doing a domestic violence campaign tour. It opens the door and almost encourages the media to ask the players questions and opinions on the matter. Probably start asking if they’re still friends and stuff like that. Better to remove him from the team and separate any thing related to the matter away from the players season Jackson knows exactly why the team invested in KPJ because Jackson was talking his ass up all year long. Jackson also looked past KPJ’s past behavior when praising his talent every week. So Jackson can stfu. Nobody knew he’d attempt to kill his girlfriend
Why are you defending inaction. It’s unnecessary and makes you sound insecure … like a “kid” you want to protect from exposure to life. sheesh
You were also always wrong about his talent. He wasn't as good as you thought he was. He was a selfish player, not a winning player, and very detrimental to the team.
I’m not defending inaction. Just explaining why I think they avoided overly apologizing. Just tired of coming here everyday seeing the overreaction of Stone’s involvement in a incident that happened away from the team in the off season I just think y’all’s witch hunt for Stone is dumb. Like you analyzing the “arrogant smirk” on his face. He was obviously shocked Jackson came at him like that with that question. But you had to try to paint him as a snobby villain which is getting cringy at this point Dude took a gamble on a talented player and KPJ ****ed up. Wasn’t to long ago the player association was asking KPJ to speak at the combine or whatever so let’s stop acting like Stone was harboring a fugitive
Dude took a gamble? How about cucked for KPJ for 2 years straight. You're in here talking like this stuff hasn't been covered extensively. Speaking at the combine didnt erase what everyone knew. I bet you think the first red flag KPJ ever had was throwing soup. Stone would've earned respect by disciplining the hell out of him like he needs and sharpening him into a functional human, not making a deal with the devil for a visionless ISO baller. Stone was trying to give KPJ the keys to the kingdom. Most people could see the pattern of behavior - and we fans didn't know half of what insiders knew.
This is textbook double think. Here are what you perceive as facts so far: KPJ is an immense, top end NBA talent. Before this incident, KPJ did not have any serious issues outside of some minor disagreements. According to you, he did not have any major red flags. By this logic, KPJ and his agent should be drowning in NBA offers, so much that there is absolutely no financial incentives to take such a bad contract from the Rockets. His "non issues" as you have repeatedly put it, would not be nearly enough to put off teams from offering KPJ a competitive contract because he has "top end talent". There are an insane amount of examples of other players in this league who had no trouble getting good contracts despite being known for their attitude issues, not one of them signed a contract like KPJ's. The fact that he ended up signing such an atrociously unfavorable contract could mean only 4 things: He just isn't that good, so no team is interested in offering him a good contract. His red flags are so big, that no team is going to even consider giving him a competitive contract despite his supposedly "top end NBA talent". A bit of both. KPJ is such a martyr that he willingly agreed to sign an unfriendly contract out of good will. Which one is it?
1. KPJ is a very good NBA basketball player 2. KPJ has mental issues The 2nd puts a major damper on teams taking a risk, as it should - same for Royce White as an example.... We all know why he isn't getting any offers - he is currently under contract with the Houston Rockets any other offers other than a trade would be tampering. Is he done in the NBA? I have no idea, he might be, he might get another chance somewhere, it is a great story when people turn their lives around - not saying he will but not saying he won't either....I am done with him as a Rocket, don't want him back - we have enough on the team now. But just as is usually the case, people try to black and white crap that is full of gray. You can disagree if you like. By your logic no one on our team was a winning player - and that would also be true. He played the way Silas asked him to play - I was HOPING before all of this that we would get to see what he looked like with a proper system and a coach that held him accountable - but that won't happen for obvious reasons. Arguing with either of you is a waste of time, we will never agree - the only thing we agree on is that after the DV charge it is good that he is gone, and we all wish the best for the young lady. DD
You are using Royce White as an example, which means you are basically admitting that KPJ is full of red flags, because that is exactly what Royce White was. This is just asinine. Do you genuinely believe this or are you just being obtuse? Do you think the Rockets can get Jalen Green and Sengun to sign the same, ridiculously player unfriendly contract extension just because they are still under contract? No, because their agent would scope out the market first to determine their potential value, and whether they should secure the contract now or test free agency for something better. No agent would ever recommend their client to sign the contract that KPJ signed unless they have evaluated the market and realised that KPJ might get even worse offers, or no offers at all, come free agency. They would especially not recommend their client sign a contract that is basically only 15 million guaranteed, with the rest un-guaranteed money. I don't know why you are arguing this, you are either admitting that KPJ is a massive headcase that everyone knew about (except you apparently), or that KPJ is just not that good. He cannot possibly receive a contract this bad and unfavorable unless his agent is absolutely atrocious at his job.
Again he chose the position of General Manager. General Managers are in the spotlight....he is already living his seclusive life ...... Witch hunt or not, he is going to get a lot of 'Fire Stone' regardless in the future if you like it or not. You are one guy and you think you can stop this....... He knows a lot more than he lets on......if people knew everything about Stone, I can assure you they will be more pissed than some already are.
That's totally wrong. KPJ was never a free agent, no team could offer him any contract. The Rockets and KPJ worked out an extension that they felt was good for both sides.
Porter does have NBA level "skills". He just has a junior high level brain and an elementary level check on his emotions. Which is why this experiment was such a waste. The only thing good he brought to the team was "leading" the way to the worst record in the league 3 yrs running, which ultimately landed the core guys.
People already are. It took a bad team to achieve a bad record. He was mostly injured and kept out for 30 games. That is significant in a 82 games season. He does not add anything to winning but he was not the only guy you could lose with either.
Lots of people have basketball talent not everyone can apply that talent to organized basketball. KPJ is Terrance Williams part 2. Playing team ball is an NBA level talent that KPJ does not have and why his value was **** before he beat this woman.
Stone would've bought Royce White 2 R.V.s and let him run point for 2 years after which there would be accusations of rape and molestation from 20+ women.
' You are misunderstanding a simple point just like DD is. It's not the fact that he is a free agent, it's the fact that he has two choices: Sign whatever the team is offering now. Test free agency in hopes of a better offer next season. No good NBA player in this league would ever sign a contract extension that KPJ signed, they would rather play out their contract and go into free agency instead and look for a better contract. The fact that KPJ did not do that, means his camp have done their research and determined that this unfriendly player contract is likely the best KPJ will ever get, so signing an extension now would make more sense. In case you were wondering why no agent or player would ever sign this type of contract, then look no further than KPJ. The Rockets gave him an unguaranteed contract worth over 80 million, and he will only walk away with 15 million.
