That’s the best part, there’s nothing like intense playoff baseball games IMO

Wrong side of Tampa Bay, only acessable to the mainland via a few bridges.

It'd be like if the Juicebox was built in Katy, Texas City, Spring, or Pasadena.

The real dumb part is that they're building a NEW STADIUM IN SAINT PETE, instead of moving the team to downtown Tampa.

March Madness and playoff baseball are my favorites. Very little room for error. Pressure cookers

It’s incredible. They had 19k there today for a playoff game…the clear answer is…**** IT LETS DOUBLE DOWN ON THE EXACT SAME LOCATION WE ALREADY KNOW DOESNT WORK

I sincerely don’t believe a new ballpark will make a difference. We will absolutely find out if I’m wrong.

I mean seriously what was that? Looked like he was playing squash just batting at the ball in CF.

Detroit used to be bigger than Houston when most sports teams came into existence.

I wish Correa the best unless he is playing us. He's an Astro legend.

I really hated to see him and George Springer to go. They were Astros and should have stayed Astros.

George wanted to move on. Carlos would have stayed if the price was right. I think it was best for everyone the way it ended up…but I absolutely love both of those guys.

Yes, I know. Detroit is a declining city. They haven't lost any major teams though.

There would still be a sold out crowd in an Astros playoff game if the stadium was in Katy.

The Rangers stadium is in Arlington…

The Astros had trouble selling out the mid-day Astrodome playoff games in the 90’s. They also had trouble selling out MMP in 2001.

the stadium matters… the time of the game matters…and the location matters. The Rays currently have the worst combination of all three.

I’d also use the Kemah example as a comparable location to what you have to do to get to St. Pete.

I still feel the scandal had much to do with Springer testing free agency and leaving. Now Correa just wanted too much money. He ultimately made about $235 mil over 7 years (which is comparable to the 5/$160 Astros offered).

Of course you can say he ended up getting a guaranteed $75 mil for 2 years more (but he could've gotten a decent contract for those two years anyway so the few mil he actually left on the table to perhaps not go deep into the playoffs is what the equation will really come up to).

And of course Correa had no idea his worth would plummet the way it did and become so open (and actually I think the Astros are better off not paying that large contract anyway and still got an extra ring out of it).

I for one am glad to have Pena and McCormick take over at a much lower cost but still very effective when compared to how Correa/Springer played this year.

It won’t. Not when it’s built out there.

Tampa supports their hockey team very well. That alone should be able to illustrate what happens if you put the arena/stadium closer to where the city center (and population) actually is. It’s not like hockey is some generational sport there…. And that team used to have to play at the awful trop stadium as well.
