The argument Bima makes against waiving now is based a lot on what Marks is reporting. The position goes that if we waive now, KPj can’t be monetarily punished as much as if we hold onto him, and wait for a suspension. And since Tilman recoups 50% of deducted salary, and we can still sign a replacement player, it’s a win win,,,for those who don’t want to waive now, because he’ll get his money.
Because they know it looks bad to keep a player just because they want to save some money. And it's not easy to explain or make people understand. Issue wasn't that they didn't tell the truth, but rather that he made a weird excuse when he didn't need to.
Yes, I understand. But I don’t want to speculate, but I still want to share info for others. Why do you think the org apparently doesn’t want reporters to know all their options for waiving now vs value of waiting on suspensions, etc? I mean, who do you think fed Woj bad info, and Feigen fell for it early too, but has since corrected himself.
Right. And now Stone says this: “Going back a few weeks, as soon as I heard the allegations, I informed his representatives that he could not be part of the Houston Rockets.“ — Raphael Stone I mean had he said publicly they were banning KPj from the team on Day 1, I don’t think they encounter such outrage over their inaction.
Exactly this, "KPJ will no longer be a part of the Rockets organization. He may be under contract for some time while we ascertain the best way to move forward for all parties involved. Under contract or not KPJ will never wear a Rockets uniform again and we denounce domestic violence at any level." Boom over no outrage and Rockets can save money.
No outrage Fosters Organizational Integrity And Stone actually said it, but waited until today. He might not even get Jackson’s question, had he told us he kicked KPj off the team 2 weeks ago. Maybe I just don’t fear apologizing like Stone seems to. Only good would have happened.
Not sure if you watched, but Stone’s first 5 minutes of Media Day was about the topic of this thread. And Feigen’s article for the day is about this topic. But you’re right…had Stone told us 2 weeks ago that he banned KPj, instead of waiting for Media Day to tell us, maybe Media Day would have been more normal, and this thread would be just a news update thread a quarter the size.
That is what you get. 15-16 million should be nothing for a billionaire but in this case penny pinching is real.
We knew two weeks ago the Rockets hands were tied and KPJ will no longer play for our franchise. Now the only people left in this thread are rage-baiting. There is no concern for the woman who was hurt and this won't be litigated on some message board amongst unrelated parties
Lol nope, people still would not have understood the meaning of waiving in a situation like this......but that is cool. Stone has never appeased the public. Not when people were furious about Silas. Not when John Wall went public with his rant. Oh I have never heard of it, I do not think it is true, that is the only thing he could say.
Well, there is also the problem that he avoided the question of why he wanted to force the Rockets to use him as a starting PG. Ok, he hinted that structured the contract that way because he thought he was going to be a star player. (Lapse of judgment) He and his wife openly declared their support and even love for Kevin Porter Jr.... I do not think banishing him from training camp suffices to appease anyone. Basically by saying he has not come across any violent behavior by Kevin Porter is a massive lie because people in the organization witnessed his altercation with John Lucas and his tantrums...... KPJ's body language during games, him taking plays off, and him refusing to leave the court when he has been subbed out and teammates have to beg or tell him to walk off. Stone thinks he protects the organization but he does not understand that his actions or inactions deepens the feeling of a joke a franchise to many players outside the Rockets organization. You could only overpay massively for above average players to come here.
Everybody knows he knew. So why did Stone have to lie? He could have played the compassion card. Say they wanted to give the kid a chance to turn his life around, and admit that their investment in him ultimately did not come to fruition.
2 Things he had to say to show decency and it would not have cost him any cent..... DV has no place within the Rockets. I condemn it. My heart goes out to the victim. Kevin Porter Jr. will never be a Rocket under my supervision. (Optional) My judgment was clouded and I made a mistake trusting KPJ. (Tilman also supported KPJ) He ineptly played with Number 2 and only banned him from team activities. He said allegations are deeply troubling, that is not nearly enough, he pivoted from any details and any real concern. It is a league matter now...... Shedding responsibility........
What is wrong with this guy?! He had a mega Contract, he got now a team who can join the Play Offs. Nice throw KPJ! Sorry but stupid as ****!
I'm just worried that the statement is time-limited...what if KPJ strikes some deal with the girl and the DA and charges somehow get dropped - will Stone take him back?
