james is really in a lose-lose situation. james is my guy but he's going to lose here. its such a horrible look for a 34 year old to be pulling this bullshit. i wonder if his agent is advising him because reportedly he was not in favor of james doing what he did in China. no teams are actively pursuing him and this doesn't help his cause. also morey isn't going to just cave. he is wasting one of his last good seasons and really taking the game for granted.
[Aldridge] Morey, on the turn with Harden: “It was hard. I like him as a person. It was hard that he felt like that was the right course of action for him at that point.” [Bontemps] Daryl Morey then addresses the James Harden situation. "He continues to seek a trade and we are continuing to work with his representation to find the best solution for the 76ers and all parties."
No one told Oubre Harden hasn't gotten traded yet? Until then he is basically on a team with no hope....
This might be the year Hardens league leading streak of 7 straight seasons of being on a top 4 seed who makes at least the 2nd round ends. An embarrassing streak of hopelessness.
James Harden Remains In Houston While Holding Out James Harden remains in Houston while skipping media day with the Philadelphia 76ers and their subsequent flight to Fort Collins, Colorado. Harden had interest in returning to the Houston Rockets this offseason, but their interest is believed to have diminished after hiring Ime Udoka as head coach. Harden is seeking a trade from the Sixers with the Los Angeles Clippers his preferred destination. Harden opted into his $35.6 million contract with the Sixers in June with the expectation he would be traded. The Sixers have continued to hold out for more draft capital than the Clippers have so far been willing to offer. Harden will be ineligible for free agency in 2024 if he withholds his services for 30 or more days, which has led many to hold the expectation that he will eventually report to the Sixers.
To be honest, I'm glad Morey gets to go through this situation. It wasn't fair when he bolted when he know **** was about to go south. Hope he enjoys the circus.
I didn't mind that he bolted - I mean, not wanting to work under new MGMT, I get that. But "going to step away and take some time offf" became "Hello Philly!" in like 2 weeks, that was lame. Also, he got Harden to take a discount, and Harden thought a wink wink deal was in place. It's on Harden for trusting Morey but Morey knew this was a risk going in - Harden making an adverse financial decision with the expectation of being taken care of is not a hard thing to forecast and Daryl thought he was going to be able to ride it out. Bad move.
[Sidery] James Harden is on the way to Sixers training camp with intentions of making a scene, per @wojespn: “James Harden wants a trade. He wants to make the 76ers uncomfortable. So uncomfortable, ultimately, they don’t think they’ll get the best out of him and make a trade.”
