McCann caught Verlander’s 2017 starts, but Maldy wasn’t on the team and McCann was the primary catcher. In 2018 it was split 15 McCann, 10 Maldy, 9 Stassi. In 2019 Chirinos was his “personal catcher” and he caught every inning: Maldy caught the only game Verlander pitched in 2020. In 2022, Maldy caught 20 of his starts, Castro 7, and Vasquez 1. So McCann and Castro were never Verlander’s personal catchers. Chirinos and Maldy have both been.
Just saw responses on twitter from Rangers fans to their lineup tonight and it sounds exactly like this forum lol
My mistake but Maldonado was NOT the catcher that Verlander has done the best with throughout his career. Jason Castro 46.2 IP 0.96 ERA 49 tOPS+ Brian McCann 132.1 IP 1.56 ERA 55 tOPS+ Robinson Chirinos 223.0 IP 2.58 ERA 77 tOPS+ Martín Maldonado 250.2 IP 2.76 ERA 86 tOPS+ Max Stassi 56.1 IP 2.88 ERA 108 tOPS+ Christian Vázquez 6.0 IP 3.00 ERA 85 tOPS+
Just a few more weeks (hopefully) and then no more Dusty. McCormick may not get to 400 ABs. A player on 162 game pace of 110-115 RBIs. Think about that. What a piece of trash to have that kind of animus towards such an excellent player. Character beyond reproach? GTFO with that crap.
Playoff Dusty was because Click had the hammer then. What about Brown makes you believe that will be the case?
How much of a hammer was Click? Story was that Click lost the battle to have Mancini/Diaz play 1st base in the playoffs and bench Yuli, if not outright keep him off the roster. Dusty gave Meyers a start in the DS over Chas. Thankfully that stopped in later rounds. There wasn't much else lineup wise to manage. Every DH they trotted out there stunk.
The thought that a 3rd year GM who was at odds and on the outs with his owner somehow had/has more power that the new handpicked GM is an interesting story to try and tell.
Right? They essentially fired Click while they were still cleaning up from the parade - but so many fans are so dug in on Baker, they will not acknowledge realty. Everything bad is Baker; everything good is in spite of Baker, and there are no exceptions to this, ever, never. Seriously, they spent all season filling their diapers about how many games Dusty cost us because he wasn't as good a manager as they clearly are - and there may have been some of those (no manager is perfect) - and here we are: the #2 seed in an AL that, frankly, doesn't look too formidable.
