Good. We don't know the situation behind the fire alarm. Did he pull the alarm in an effort to overturn a free and fair election? If so, I definitely want him to be held accountable.
Something tells me this is the same person that actually believes someone can confuse a gun with a taser Rocket River
It appears Bowman was in a different building than where the vote was being held. Still dumb, but had no effect on the proceedings
LOL, it seems that MAGA is now finally okay with applying the charge of 'corruptly obstructing an official proceeding'—the same charge they previously opposed.
Looks like the ragers in this thread got played again. Another 'world is going to burn to the ground if we dont get this passed' save at the last minute. Both sides are playing you fools.
Have you ever thought that because there was massive pressure thats why both sides agreed on a agreement....If folks werent stressed or didnt write to their local reps I would argue that a shutdown would've happened. Congressional staff said they received tens of thousands of emails from folks pleading to keep the government happen. Democracy only works if we participate in it aka "stressing out" is a good thing at times.
Shut down wasn't going to happen this time or the previous time. Its just stupid posturing by both sides. At this point, its like watching the Kardashians. Do you enjoy watching the Kardashians?
The 45 days is the Friday before Thanksgiving lol. Always make the deadlines right before a holiday cuz there's nothing worst that congress hates is working during a holiday. They'll pass another CR then cuz they'll wanna be home for thanksgiving
I believe you are conflating 'default' with 'shutdown.' The "previous time" referred to potential default if Congress did not raise the debt ceiling, which has never occurred. However, there have been 21 federal government shutdowns, making that scenario more likely to recur. I don't view this as mere political posturing, nor was it equal on both sides. House Democrats offered to help McCarthy pass a continuing resolution, which they did. McCarthy initially refused to compromise but ultimately conceded. He desperately tried rallying the MAGA faction to vote for something—anything—but they refused (they wanted the shutdown). They still did NOT vote for the CR. McCarthy backtracked on his May agreement and clung to a hopeless position until the bitter end before accepting that shutting down the government over MAGA demands was untenable. Looking ahead to the next showdown right before Thanksgiving, the drama will likely center on MAGA efforts to escalate and undermine McCarthy, and how Democrats respond to help McCarthy or not. Yes, I think that will make for some Kardashian-style drama, MAGA style.
I wonder who pushed the initial "pull fire alarm to delay vote" narrative that the mainstream media seems to just carry forward without any checking (not surprisingly, it's too sensational a story for them not to push)? Anyway, one good thing out of this is MAGA members, such as Greene, called for prosecution for "corruptly obstructing an official proceeding." Next time she claims the January 6th criminals are innocent, point back to her statement.
That MTG et al are hypocrites is no surprise and likely will Make no difference to their supporters. From everything from “politicization of the Justice” to presidential vacations it’s rules for thee but not for me..
