Always down 0-2 or 1-2, **** ass swings, and **** defense. Hopefully this is on of those signings where the player struggles the first year of a contract and produces the next.
He has been better after a horrific first two months. OPS around .800 the last month .835 .754 .550 .800 We know he was playing hurt in August and then had the injections- which are a temporary fix but may help him enough complete his swing. He should be better next year if he is healthy. His power has returned and he is a good situational hitter getting runners in from 3rd. Defensively he isn’t ever going to be especially good. He is usually a little better than he has been though.
Jose abreu last 7 games ops of 673 with a 192 batting average Jose abreu last 15 games ops of 698 with a 200 batting average. Jose abreu last 30 games 739 ops with a 211 batting average.
He was 0-2 in the count at least twice yesterday. Wouldn't be surprised if 70% of his ABs have been 0-2 or 1-2.
The *very* least Dusty could do is DH him to decrease stress on his body. Diaz's OPS is goes from .600 to 1.100 when he plays 1B vs DH. Dusty could also drop Abreu in the order, but nope, can't do that either. Toothpick sabotages games on a daily basis.
If Abreu is here next year, he can’t just be given the job at 1B. He should really have to earn it. I absolutely cannot stand watching that guy hit. It’s ****ing terrible.
I remember around July he was amongst the league leaders in 0-2 counts. It's so textbook each time too. Ball outside the zone that he swings at, followed by a fastball he can't catch up to and fouls it off.
Martin Maldonado last 7 games 937 ops with a 278 batting average. Last 15 games 767 ops with a 222 batting average. Last 30 games 737 ops with a 232 average.
I absolutely agree. However, his contract is so large, can the Astros really afford to sit him or cut him?
Yes, they can. However, I’m only suggesting that they make him earn the starting spot. If we have someone outperforming him, he sits the bench.
It's like having Westbrook out there. We can't win the World Series without him, so we gotta keep rolling his bat out there and hope it swings in our favor at the right time.
He ain’t as consistent as Dubon or McCormick…. shame on the org for not having a viable enough, consistent-hitter 1B backup. If they could do it (or Meyers/Singleton), I would’ve preferred 1B Abreu to make about 70% of the starts he’s been in. Hope he’s turned a page and is settling in with confidence.
The people who hate on him non stop are mentally unwell. Who gives a **** if hes making 19 million . We're not paying for it and hes delivered in critical moments multiple time this year. 89 RBIs
