I hear ya, but it is pretty clear the org doesn't care about the uproar so why are you in here asking for the same thing over and over knowing it ain't gonna happen. DD
Me thinking something should happen - if the Rockets were more competent and less of an embarrassing clown show, and if the league didn't drag it's feet unnecessarily- is different from you manufacturing totally fictional reasons for it not happen - and giving the clowns a free pass because of such fiction.
He would file a lawsuit or ask for arbitration for what? For the Rockets doing something that the Uniform Player Contract explicitly allows?
Well, fair I guess.......I don't disagree with your point, about optics, but as you know I don't believe it matters at all in the long run. DD
Come on, you can file a lawsuit about anything - and yes, if he gets cut over something that was negotiated in the CBA, he has a case - doesn't make it right, but the Union and the League negotiated something based upon DV (Not sure why TBH)....so they will need to comply by that negotiation. DD
As well as they shouldn't. Fans stand for FANATICS, the Rockets need to let the NBA make their penalty assessment and go from there. And like I've always said, KPJ needs accept that penalty and move on.
It is in his best interest to just keep on working on himself, getting the mental help that is needed. Suing anyone is not the way back for him..... he is not going to get better in life and in sports. He is barely functioning in society. Good riddance anyway.
on Sept 15th, here’s Bobby Marks telling Windhorst “they can waive him if they want” And fwiw, Shams also briefly mentions “if he’s waived right now”, as an option, at the tail end of this
I've always understood that he could be waived at any time at the club's discretion for whatever reason - so long as he's paid the full amount of guaranteed money. I think we simply have to go with the understanding that Porter is done in Houston and likely the league. People need to have a little patience and let the league make its decision and then the team to react to that decision in the best way it can. Silver made statements that there was no urgency to hand down a decision on the matter because teams aren't playing games - That changes on October 10 with the start of preseason and is ratcheted up further on October 25th with the season opener. We'll have our answers on their timeline .... with that Oct 25th date being the ultimate deadline. Tomorrow, Oct 2nd, is also Rockets Media Day, seriously doubt we see him with the team. That'll be a statement on their part without making any official statement - essentially saying he's done here. Patience ....
That is fair. He is done for sure. Athletes are coddled in this league by some teams. It is mostly Stone that has to apologize at some point during his career here. Personally I am just curious of how much is really true, I mean I believe completely that he punched her but what is the context of that all...... One moment love birds next moment he tried to kill her...... how far back did the abuse go etc.
You've got it backwards. The team waiving him at any time is what is in the players contract. There would be zero negotiation. He doesn't have any basis whatsoever if he were to be waived. He signed a contract that gives the team the right to waive him at any time and without cause. Sure he could file a lawsuit, but it would never make it to court. What basis would he have for a lawsuit? The team exercised an option that the player contractually agreed to give them? There is absolutely nothing in the CBA that prevents him from being waived - at any time and for any reason ( or no reason at all). If you believe there is, then you are misunderstanding what's in the standard players contract. There is nothing in the cba or player contract that ever makes a team keep a player on the team under any condition. Teams are always free to waive a player. I can't make it any clearer than that. If you're thinking that the idea that a player can't be punished by both his team and the league for the same offense, then you are not understanding that waiving a player is not a punishment. Look at Primo, he was waived by the Spurs and suspended by the league. If waiving him were a punishment then he would have been published by both the Spurs and the league- which is not allowed. Punishment is something that causes him to lose money. When you are waived you still get all the money that you are contractually owed.
His case to sue the rockets for waiving him is about as strong as my case for the rockets not signing me.
I don’t think DD realizes the new DV policy of the CBA is available to the public to read, and that you’ve read it. He seems to assume no one really knows; hence, we are free to speculate and guess what the DV policy says.
