Yeah, let's hope not. Poor CJ, having to make plays with his starting left tackle, right tackle, and backup left tackle all injured. Pass protection isn't a luxury he has to his advantage, that's for sure. I just hope we can take some of the pressure off him, with a running game that takes advantage of a team that hasn't done well this year against the run. My biggest hopes for Sunday are: #1 CJ not getting hurt #2 No more players injured #3 A trifecta again on Defense, Pick it from Pickett! Strip the ball! Interception!! Sack!! #4 100+ yards rushing from Pierce
The Texans are now down to their third-string left tackle and third-string right tackle The Texans could go in two different directions to replace Jones, who didn’t allow a sack last week against the Jaguars. They could move Fant from right to left tackle and bring up offensive tackle Austin Deculus off the practice squad to start at right tackle. In that instance, the offensive line would look like: LT Fant, LG Green C Jarrett Patterson, RG Shaq Mason, RT Deculus. The Texans used that previous offensive tackle configuration in the first preseason game against the Patriots. Stroud was consistently running for his life. In his only two drives, he was sacked once for 15 yards, pressured another time, and threw an interception. He finished 2 of 4 for 13 yards and an interception. But that was when the Texans were figuring things out. Prior to that game, Fant had primarily played on the right side, while Deculus had practiced on both sides. The Texans could also start Deculus, a 2022 sixth-round pick, at left tackle and keep the rest of the offensive line as it was the past two weeks. It would look like: LT Deculus, LG Green, C Patterson, RG Mason, RT Fant. Texans injury report Laremy Tunsil and Josh Jones (hand) weren’t the only players who didn’t practice. Middle linebacker Denzel Perryman (hand/wrist) and nickel cornerback Tavierre Thomas (hand) didn’t practice either. Center/guard Michael Dieter was a limited participant for the second consecutive day with a chest injury.
Deculus going to get wrecked. You need to put your best tackle on the right side in this game because that's normally TJ's side. They don't move him a ton. Give yourself a prayer.
The two biggest factors last week was the play of Patterson at center and better blocking by our backfield. It might not be the disaster everyone is expecting. Does this count as calling it or was it too vague?
Looking at the next Gen stats, the fastest sack recorded by a Steeler edge happened at 2.8 seconds by Alex Highsmith. Stroud can comfortably throw an intermediate pass in 2.60 seconds. Considering our line issue, I'm shaving off .2 seconds from Alex and Watt's time of arrival. So a lot of the passes have to be shorter than intermediate, probably 6 yards in the air then rely on YAC . TEs have to make catches. Can't wait to see the playbook for Sunday. If the line can hold it down like in week 3, Texans will win by more than 10 points. The positive? Miles Garrett can get there in 2.27 seconds. We won't play him for a while. https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/top-plays/fastest-sacks/2023/REG/all
Need to double team TJ with TE and keep a back in as well. I'm worried with Deculus at LT, he hasn't looked good this year. I'll miss the game helping my son move to VA, so good luck folks and give JJ a proper send off!
Big guys, after they retire, usually go 1 of 2 ways: they change their diet and drop weight while still staying fit, or they turn into tubs of goo because they're still eating 4000 calories a day but aren't working out nearly as much as when they were playing
