With the way the Astros play at home I'm all for making the environment feel less like what it does for home games.
Unlike Houston, Phoenix chooses not to be put in a position where they have to admit that building a stadium complete with a retractable roof was a waste of taxpayer money. Why even have a retractable roof if you're never gonna open it?

The Astros used to open it plenty. Believe it or not, it’s just persistently hotter now than in was 2000-2004ish. They’ve also factored the humidor into keeping the ballpark as fair as possible (and it’s actually trended towards a pitchers park). that being said, they could certainly open it more in April/May.
