Life is short and fleeting. Put your hands up and enjoy the roller coaster. We’ll be dead soon enough. Go ‘stros!

Fun scenario to think about. Astros and Mariners both win the next two. On Sunday Seattle bludgeons Texas early in the game. Texas is left rooting for the Astros to win, otherwise Seattle wins division and Astros get WC.

A relatively young team with individual players trying to make a mark has something to play for and being a spoilers is one of the few motivations they would have.

A team locked into a playoff spot with all the individual players focused on resting and avoiding injury before the playoffs have arguably less to play for in that game.

Then I’d stop watching sports altogether or engaging with human beings :)

I hate to say it, but I don't have the same belief in this team as prior teams. Not because I don't believe in the players. I just don't believe Dusty puts them in a position to win and I think the players realize it. He put too much pressure on the pitching staff to be perfect and now they are mentally and physically worn down.

I think there's much to be said about Dusty's lineups affecting the pitching staff as well. Good callout.

To be fair, after the Royals series, I was kinda feeling the same way. More excited about the young, mediocre Texans and Rockets than the reigning champ Astros. I just think it's about expectations. We're so spoiled as Astros fans and think so lowly of those other two organizations right now that a less-than-stellar Astros team is more frustrating than young Rockets and Texans teams with zero expectations.

That being said, the Mariners series had me hooked again. And I'm pumped for the DBacks series and (hopefully) the playoffs. Just needed to watch the Astros prove they could play competitive baseball again. If they make the playoffs, I'm sure we'll all get those familiar butterflies back.

It's the range of emotions that makes sports enjoyable, you wouldn't enjoy it as much if it wasn't a roller coaster.

This!! 100% why I was rooting for Rangers to win cuz I have no idea what this Astros team is capable of. If and when we get to the postseason, I feel like this team playing with house money, considering how shitty they have been in September.

I feel like they’re playing with house money given that they’ve won 2 championships in a 5 year span and been to the ALCS 6 years in a row. Everything beyond this is cream cheese imo
