CJs first 3 games were a lot better than Watson's.
    A lot!!!

    CJ 906 YDS, 4TD/0INT
    Watson 528 YDS, 3 TD/3INT

Watson had an elite target also.

Yes he did. I think CJ is better at scanning through progressions than Watson was as well. Watson got focused on one target and the defense knew where that ball was going.

Which is nuts because Watson’s first 6 games were record setting and we were beyond excited… until we had to sacrifice his knee to the baseball gods.

To be fair Watson had a lot of running yards to add to his production also.

That's the thing that has me most excited- you just don't see freaking rookies able to do this much less many vets -unless if we're talking about past great quarterbacks like Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers-

His first 3 games weren't that good.

I'm talking about the first 3 games. I'd take Stroud not running, yet throwing for 4 TDs to Watson running, but throwing an interception for every touchdown.

CJ’s processing is what is the most important/encouraging development. The S2 test was supposed to be the thing that helps determine the speed to process. And while Bryce was great at it, the reaction to the test made it seem like CJ wasn’t a great processor. His play so far has destroyed that notion. He gets through his progressions so fast. His decision making has gotten quicker and improved.

The best thing about all of this is he’s still not close to where he could be. He still makes mistakes you’d expect but he is much further along than I thought.

When the OL finally gets healthy Stroud should be even better than he is now. I'm worried about Tunsil, he tried to ramp up his rehab too much and suffered a setback. His knee is very swollen, I'm thinking 4 weeks of rest.

I'm glad Stroud's doing well and he's better than Mills.

But he's operating in a better offense with weapons and better coaching than Mills ever had.

This is what I'm talking about when I say a better offense.

He has himself to blame for that. His head got too big, and his selfishness became more important to him than playing football. Well he got his money, but he will always be remembered as an internet stalking creep, liar, and predator.

Bad luck. He only played 5 games in 2021. Ugh.

That’s true, but then his next 3 were. I think #3 was New England and a good game, then 6 was Seattle. Both losses but crazy on his part. Wasn’t one of the others the titans game where fuller went off?

But stroud has definitely started better, I hope he keeps it up. We need the OL back soon!

Last 2 seasons, yards gained by the offense was ranked 30th and 31st. Currently it's 15th.
If the quarterback rating by Stroud can stay at 98 while the opposition's at 89 and the defense holds running backs to 100 yards, the Ws will be there.
Defense this year is 16th in total yards allowed, last place the past 2 years and 2020.

Obviously you want to rank high in PF/PA but it's year 1 for Slowik and crew.

Things are headed in the right direction.

Schultz has been asked to block a lot, a trend I expect to continue on Sunday.

    Great post.
