Servass is going to be fired when Seattle don't make playoffs. I can't stand his ass. He called him Puto? or Maricon?
Glad I stayed up and watched the whole game. Yes!! Great to see everybody get a hit. Great team effort. The pitching had me on edge, but we did it. Brantley my man, you are a stud! I can't even remember the last time anyone got 4 hits on our team. Welcome back! You are the extra umph we need moving forward.
So, Neris is motivating the team by going after a "friend" with whom he talks to / trained with while calling him homophobic slurs. It's all just part of the competition.
Obviously the ideal scenario is the Astros winning the division and getting a WC bye and home field vs everyone but Baltimore in the AL playoffs. I know they suck at home this season, but you always want a potential elimination game in your park. Short of that, the next best situation is the 6th seed and the Rangers winning the division. That means the path to the ALCS is Minnesota and then Texas. The Astros can beat those teams.
For dominicanos (as well as puertoricans and cubans), "coño" is used more like a "damnit", in order to express more emphasis to whatever is being said. For example, in English, Hector could have said "damn, you suck, Julio". In Spanish, it goes "Julio, que muerto eres, coño". My guess is that he called Julio maricon, which if taken literally, could be construed as being homophobic, even though the vast majority of the time, guys just use it when busting each other balls in good nature and should not be taken literally. Hell, a lot of times friends call each other maricon as they greet each other. Nobody takes as offensive, and instead, it's taken as a term of endearment.
Pick your poison situation. The biggest detriment with the pitching staff is overuse. Would you rather 1) play an extra series but against 2 inferior teams or 2) be rested for one series against a better team? Regardless, last night was huge for clinching a berth and controlling our own destiny.
22 years living in Seattle now. Buddy moved up from Texas 14 years ago. We’ve been to 15 games over the past 14 years together here. We are 15-0. such salty mariners fans.
Actually if the Astros are either the WC or Divisiin winner they are on the same side of the bracket and play the same teams. The only scenario where that changes is if Toronto goes in the toilet and Astros keep winning.
I always opt for more rest and home field. Especially with a tired pitching staff and Brantley's sore shoulder.
