Astros guaranteed to gain ground tomorrow on somebody. That feels good to say. A Rangers win is probably the desired outcome overall, however the division is still in play, so it’s not the worst if Seattle wins. Also, Arizona plays the White Sox tomorrow and can clinch with a win and a Cubs loss.
Kelenic is from Wyoming but likes the song Country Roads ...so that's his entrance song. Correction ..as noted below he's from Wisconsin
Neris pulling his nutsack out and t-bagging julio in front of their fans was next level. like wow. Love when this team embraces the villain role.
Shout out to Graveman for bridging us to the back end of the bullpen tonight. He has an era of 2.45 as an Astro.
I'm looking at scenarios...trying to figure who to pull for....we can't tie either Seattle or Toronto, correct ? But a tie with Texas we would win.
2 wins and the Astros are in, as they would claim a WC spot in the event of a 3 way tie (or a 4 way tie including Toronto). The best Seattle could do would be to tie the Astros at 89-73 by sweeping Texas, which means the Rangers would also finish 89-73. Seattle claims the division in that case, while the Astros claim a WC spot over Texas. Note, if Toronto also finishes 89-73 then the Astros win the 3-way tiebreak between them Toronto and Texas. Now, if the Astros go 1-2 then Seattle would have to lose 2. If the Astros lose all 3, then Seattle would have to lose 3 out of 4 to Texas. So, the Astros magic number is either 2 or 3 depending on if they are Astro wins or Seattle losses. Note, in order to win the division the Astros must sweep Arizona. So all in all, you probably want to pull for Texas tomorrow.
Also, don't forget the Blue Jays, if they underperform in the last few games, that's a Wildcard spot the West can claim. They have 87 wins (same as we do), with 4 games to go (1 vs NYY and 3 vs TB all at home). They also have tie-breaker advantage against Houston, but not against Seattle or Texas. Go Yankees for tomorrow? Can't believe I said it, but yes.
Another interesting angle. Should the Astros win the division there’s also the matter of holding off The Twins for the 2-seed. Astros are 1.5 games up on the Twins, but Twins start a 4-game series at home vs Oakland tomorrow and own the tie-breaker with The Astros. As for Astros winning the division, that’s certainly on the table. An Astros sweep of Arizona combined with a Texas-Seattle split would give Houston the division
You would think AZ completes the sweep of what has been the worst team in the majors these last 2 months, the White Sox. Cubs could also lose in an early game on Friday (7:10), or the Marlins lose tomorrow and Friday (early start 5:35).
So we need rangers to destroy mariners ? I don’t care for the division. I want wild card and face that side of the bracket. Twins : rangers
