I worry about extreme weather and the strength of our borders to process migrants safely and with dignity when there are unexpected surges.

We all more or less know the problem lies with Congress... Bush's failure to get comprehensive reform as a lame duck, Obama puffing up DACA even though it was an Executive Order, Trump playing the same trick with his base with his own EOs. I guess I can sleep better on this issue now that Kamala is tackling it.

Jokes aside, her 2021 five point plan sounds like a bone for policy wonks but with a nebulous size, scope, and parameters for success.

Doesn't seem to address what's happening at the border, but maybe that's the limit of Presidential EOs.

I agree the lack of transparency and the Everything is Awesome veneer will make voters punish Dems in the future. It's almost a matter of climate change science and which of our southern neighbors is most vulnerable to it. Dems put themselves in that spot because of how they played Trump's handling of the border as a humanitarian and quasi-Fascist dystopia. So now if there's a whiff of similar mishandling, they can't let the optics grow out of control.

    Congress sucks...now what?

Comedy has to have certain set conditions for most people to find joy in said comedy. Usually comedy doesn't come from a place of establishment people who are at the top of the hegomonic hierarchy making critique of society in a witty form. And the Babylon B is essentially that. A bunch of comfortable well off people who are detached from real tragedy and suffering due to economic systems who are used to their religion and their culture being the hegomonic power of society trying to make witty remarks about society turns into cringe and that's why Babylon Bee often just feels like cringe.

Border Patrol pay is one of thousands of things that would be affected by a government shutdown, yes. A total shutdown is by definition untargeted, so they aren't voting specifically to defund border patrol, any more or less than they are voting to defund corporate welfare, defense spending, or tourism support. Is anyone stupid enough to fall for this nonsense. The House needs to pass a bill with the cuts they want to spending and hand it off to the Senate. Then they can replay the same silly attacks against the Senate Dems. The difference is, of the two, the House is more likely to be okay with a shutdown, so they should theoretically have the leverage.

You know mccarthy and biden already made a deal months ago and now house republicans are going back on the deal cuz McCarthy has no control over his caucus. funny how you completely missed over this part. There should be NO SHUTDOWN cuz they made a deal months ago.

Republicans cant keep their words cuz their a bunch of frauds.

So what you’re saying is that a
Shut down is basically a bomb that will hurt agencies and policies Republicans claim to support as much as ones
    They are against.

I don't care about any deals between McCarthy and Biden. I don't like and didn't vote for either of them. I want a limited federal government and am in support of whatever gets us to that goal.
What I am saying is that a shutdown is preferable to business as usual because the federal government is more bad than good.

Huh? So you don't respect a deal that was made on paper and signed by both parties? Now we have to have a shutdown and millions suffer cuz mccarthy can't keep up his DEAL HE SIGNED.

You think this is okay? WTF is wrong with you? Aren't you a DA? When you make a deal you make a deal
