jrue holiday will have plenty of suitors trying to acquire him. I don't even think he makes it to the start of the season with Port. They clearly want to move forward with sharp/scoot. That's not happening with Jrue there. 2-way player. current all star/all nba defense w/ only 2 years left on his deal including this one.
Which standings....I would have pegged Rockets over Blazers with Lillard playing in 20 or those 40 games till the dead line.
He’s expiring (player option) is 33, says he’s retiring after his current deal, and has been ******** the bed in the playoffs I don’t think he brings enough to make this palatable for Portland and now they have Grant and Ayton on stupid contracts. Only saving grace for the franchise is Scoot and Sharpe
I love this trade for everyone involved. The Bucks made a determination that they were not good enough with Holiday as their second best player, so they went out and got a vastly more dynamic offensive player. Having said that, I think that when push comes to shove, they will miss Holiday because he is the best perimeter defender in the NBA and is just a pain in the ass. The Blazers were in a tough spot. There was a market for Lillard, but he isn't really a true superstar. He also has a MASSIVE contract, is small and getting older. The return they got is very strong. The market for Holiday will likely surprise people - he is extremely valuable to a contender. He is an absolute beast defensively, he is able to play the point and not make a lot of mistakes, he is very smart and a leader. Ayton has value, they may be able to find a team like the Rockets that will trade assets for him as well. The Suns needed depth and they got that.
Lillard has 2 years and can go wherever........and with him Giannis, is the perfect exit. The ECF is not that interesting this year.
Holiday isn't retiring and he is coming off a very good year offensively and he is the best perimeter defender in the NBA. The Blazers have to play it right, but they have a chance to get a haul for him.
Yeah and then Lillard to the Heat in 2 years. I am not buying into Milwaukee can hold superstars BS...... So if Giannis is injured 1 year out of those 2 years.....the window is just as slim. Giannis is loyal enough....
Miami being a possibility makes a lot of sense. They're likely one of the teams looking to acquire him They desperately need to upgrade from Lowry and this is a window where they can use Robinson's contract
I could see if the Bucks weren't just champs a couple of years ago w/ Holiday running the point. They got rid of one of the best perimeter defenders in the game. This is going to be one interesting season!
I'd rather have Christian Wood than Ayton, tbh. It will be interesting who they shop Ayton for. I don't see them keeping him. I see them taking on Holiday and Ayton both just to shop them. Biggest interest in Ayton probably remains the Pacers.
Lillard had a career season last year, but shut it down at the end of the year. The prior season he played 20 something games. He is 33 years old and played 50% of the games his last two seasons combined at age 32-33, and owed $60M a year when he is 35-36 years old. I would imagine the market for someone like that is very limited, someone would have to be desperate. Miami doesn't make desperation moves, the Bucks face potentially losing Giannis and have a small window to win so I guess it makes some sense. We will see what they get in return for Jrue.
Ayton has no motor. There's nothing to coach. Some people just turn straight trash when they get their bag.
