This looks like a must win game for both teams. All hands on deck. Bench Abreu....no alternative. Bench Maldy...oops Framber start.
This just pizzes me off, bases-loaded why not use Brantley and he doesn't need to run with sacks full. The other pizzer is putting Abreu that high in the lineup, the turning point of the game was walking King Tuck to face instant out in Joe Abreu with 1 out. This all goes to Toothpick's out of touch choices, hopefully he gets toothache so he can sit out a few games.
Dusty has built this underachieving season brick by brick, game in and game out with stupid decision after stupid decision. That's why he is Astros Opponent's MVP
Hope we get the good version of Framer tonight. It he gets addled early we will be in for a long night. Unfortunately it does not take much to set him off. Wouldn't it be great if Dusty shocked the world and started Diaz instead of Maldy. Unfortunately it is not going to happen. Honestly, my expectations for tonight's game are not very high. There is always a chance we figure it out and win the next four games but if we lose tonight the season for all practical purposed will be over. We are for the most part asleep on offense and shoot ourselves in the foot too many times in so many ways. Will be win tonight? We should but be should have cinched the division about two weeks ago. It is anybody's guess at this point. It's a shame the team let themselves get put in this position.
It really makes me angry that the Astros are in this desperate position. The September collapse is not easy to explain, but I still think Dusty is at the root of it. His stupid decisions killed the spirit of the players.
Agreed. He was a terrible manager the entire season, starting with not playing Chas the first 2 games of the season. The 2nd game he sat in favor of Julks!
I think like he officially lost the team when he pinch hit Singleton for Chas in that Yankees series, the pattern of doing weird crap all season reached its tipping point at that moment. You can't mentally be in it when you don't have respect for the person in charge.
As much as I despise some of Dusty's decisions lets not kid ourselves here, injuries killed this team and by the time everyone got healthy we've run out of time. FFS we lost THREE starters to start the year. Debateable if you count LMJ but I do. (it was dumb of the FO not to cover for LMJ) Add in all of the time Altuve and Alvarez missed....Brantley pretty much a nothing for the entire year. Having said that Dusty hasn't helped his teams cause with some of his bonehead calls, lineups and stubborn as a mule ways. As I said he ****ed around thinking he could do what he did last year and he found out.
This became a battle of wills/ego between Dusty and the front office + the fan base. He simply refused to change course on McCormick and Yainer, despite them clearly earning full time roles. Then it became a talking point and Dusty became entrenched to try to make his way succeed. It never did. The team culture and spirit was negatively impacted and the players started to press and play tight. Sideways energy that was completely avoidable.
I'm pretty sure the players still respect him but I'm quite sure they've all questioned moves like this. "WTH are we PHing Singleton here?"
