Hader with Abreu and Pressly would be formidable.

I'm proud of the WS championship from last year...can't take that away.. But, it wouldn't shock anyone to be told that if you give up 5 runs or more in the first 5 innings, your odds of winning are not real good. And we've seen this over and over..especially in Sept. it seems. What is concerning is that pitching, as a whole and with rare exception, has abandoned us. Factor in our lack of hitting and it complicates matters even further. There is plenty of blame to go around but, if I had 6 men in scoring position in 3 ABS and produced nothing, You make big dollars to produce. I would apologize to. the team. And one out...can't get one out. But, we go get 'em tomorrow. I believe the energy of the team is reflected in your leader/Mgr. It's mind over matter...if you don't mind, it don't matter. If there is a sense of energy, it's not apparent to me. 9-14 in September.

If Abreu bats 5th, Astros lose tomorrow. If he hits 7th or 8th or doesn’t even play the Astros win. This mother****er has left more men on base in big spots than I can count. I do not understand why Dusty keeps putting him 5th and expecting different results. It’s absurd. Unfortunately MALDY gets another start tomorrow too.

I’m hoping the lineup is Altuve, Tucker, Alvarez, Bregman, Brantley, Dubon, Abreu, Pena, Maldonado

If they can't add Hader, will Crane allow Brown to use that money on another player? Or perhaps by the time Hader signs, all the other players that can help would be signed by other teams lol. If they are serious about Hader, they can't screw around. I saw he'll want a something similar to Edwin Diaz. Offer him what Crane is comfortable with and tell him this is the first and final offer. I don't want them getting into a bidding war/going back and forth and at the end, bow out of the race and then miss out on other players.

Any idea if they have interest in the Japanese pitchers? Assuming Yamamoto is out of their range but what about Shota Imanaga? I know he's a starter but I just want a Japanese player on the team. Perhaps some relief pitchers might get posted.

Also even if they lose tomorrow, yes division out of the picture but still a chance both Seattle and Houston makes the playoffs. Just need Toronto to choke. I think Cole pitches against them tomorrow. Who knows who's pitching on Thursday. Then they play TB who is still fighting for 1st so who knows.

No - I haven’t heard anything from the Astros, but I would be surprised if he is back. The Astros GM has made it clear that Diaz is the Astros catcher of the future and his public comments about Baker have been measured and not overly enthusiastic.

The only player that I know the Astros have interest in signing is Josh Hader - and that really surprised me, and we would have likely gotten him at the deadline had the Padres not changed course and decided to not trade.

Do I think they would just spend the money elsewhere if they miss out on Hader? No - at least not all of it. Hader appears to be a special case.

I expect them to add a starter and a reliever or two but I don’t think they will be expensive signings.

I know the Astros have scouted more in Japan than usual the last year but I’ve heard nothing about a particular player.

I checked out at 10:15 pm. KIrby had set down 10 in a row after Jabreau meekly dribbled out with the bases full in the first. Recorded the remainder of game just in case. Woke up this morning. Game went about as expected. The agony of watching our team is just too hard to watch sometimes.

I started watching the game and then strayed dozing off in the Third. Glad I didn’t stay up for the rest if the game

Brown should have sent down Singleton long ago. What, Robel Garcia wasn't available?

I have watched 95% of the Astros games on MLB Extra innings this year.
with that being said, I have not watched either of the Seattle games. 10PM start here in NY coupled with the way they are playing. I am just going to check out and reassess on Friday.

Turned off the game and silenced all my group texts after Altuve's r****ded throw. So glad I did, didn't wake up angry and I'm rested.

one thing that's always been true about the Duster, he will find the weakest player on the team and put him in a key role.
