Looks like the Browns/Texans pick is going to be good either way. Extremely deep WR class. Xavier Harrison Jr Coleman Egbuka Odunze Franklin All first round type guys and I am sure I am missing someone else. Texans should be able to get one of those guys in Round 1. Pending how Dell, Metchie, Collins look the rest of the year, they may not even draft a WR in the first round.
Lets talk about Lincoln Riley QB's while were at it. Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray- Great prospects who largely busted in the NFL. You can count Jalen Hurts if you want, but he was an Alabama guy who has the MATURITY of a 15 year vet QB. Him developing is not surprising. That is something Caleb Williams doesn't have. I would not be shocked at all if he busts. His tape is flashy, but most of his positive plays are off schedule scramble drills. Very Mahomeish, but I really question the mental side and if that will be his downfall once adversity sets in. He also won't be getting Andy Reid who is an offensive god to lean on when things get tough.
Trotter's kid? Wild all these guys we played on Madden 05' all have talented kids. Sanders would be nice. We need that more than a WR if Dell and Nico are going to ball out. (Subject to change on a weekly basis) 20th pick: CB, Nelson is one of the best stats wise but he's 30 and Stingley can't stay healthy. 39th pick: TE Sanders 3rd: RB Will Shipley 3rd: After trading to 4ths, LB Trotter Jr. 5th: Alabama DT
I'm with you here. I haven't watched enough of Williams to feel comfortable with my opinion, but there's something about him that just says "meh, whatever" to me. He's a hell of a college QB though.
If you want Sanders, then you probably will have to use pick 1-20 on him. Trotter will go higher IMHO, you might be able to get him at 2-39. I watched some of him against Fla St, and wasn't impressed with him in coverage. I like Shipley in the 3rd, I like Jase McClelland even more in the 3rd. Give me Sweat in the 4th.
Im probably focusing on defensive front 7 with 2 of the first 3 picks. O line should be good when healthy and CJ looks to be making the most out of his weapons. The lack of push the dline has been getting is probably the number 1 thing to address and will help coverage as well.
Haven't looked into who will potentially be out there, but I'm assuming the FA market and how they decide to spend their money will have an impact on their draft priorities. DT/OG/CB/WR/TE/LB in no definitive order
Depends on the contract. His last two years have been graded well. He's off to a sluggish start this season, but he can still lock up your A gaps.
TEs always drop a bit. It was early March and everybody was talking about the Halloween slasher going 13th. Raiders took him in the 2nd round. Then, mid April, Washington was the hottest name. 'experts' again saying early 2nd round, late 1st. He goes to the Steelers 3rd round. Still not giving up on Dalton just yet but TE has to be looked at. on a related subject From last night,
What would be funny is if Caleb stuck to his guns and said if the Bears draft him, he’s going back to school. They’d still likely get Maye, but it’d be one more indictment of that franchise. I’m still onboard with a WR in round 1. We look to have our QB. Oddly our TE isn’t yet getting used much, but might be that Stroud’s eyes favor the outside. Grab one of those 1st round talent WRs to get our corps in much better shape in a year where WR is deep. Having a Collins/Dell/hopefully Metchie + one of Odunze/Franklin/Egbuka is a solid start for a young team. We haven’t drafted OL well, so solve that via FA but we need top tier weapon talent.
I really like Xavier Legette out of South Carolina. Big bodied wide receiver. Having a great year. Maybe in the second round?
