Strawman Argument. Other players being feared does not change that Bregman is feared. Have you not noticed how often he gets walked with runners in scoring position? It is comedic in how feared Bregman is especially considering guys who names rhyme with Gordan, Shucker and Hosay are often batting behind him.
Fear is a relative term in the context of this discussion. Singleton would be feared if playing in a rookie league game.
I will never never get over it honestly. Drew Gilbert and Ryan Clifford, Two Left-handed Power Bats at OF and 1B
Or is it that Bregman is the most patient hitter on the team and is most likely to take four straight balls? Do you have any data or evidence to support that Bregman gets pitched around more than the other key hitters on the team? Because if it's just a gut feeling, I have to think a lot of that is the eye test playing tricks because Bregman swings outside the zone less than the other guys. And this is not a knock on Bregman, who—even in a down year or a slump—is still a guy who you'd be stupid to throw pitches over the zone to. More just an acknowledgment that he's the pickiest hitter out of this group. I don't think he's necessarily "feared" more or less than other guys (maybe with the exception of Yordan).
I guess - Adrian Beltre was the same way. He had a huge year and then was just an all star type player for a decade.
Never get over it? THIS is the Astros window, the next 2-3 years. 3 of your 4 starting infielders have deals that are up after the 2025 season. Your best outfielder, your best starting pitcher, your closer and 3 of your other relievers all have deals that are up after the 2025 season. The Astros have Verlander for this season, next season and a mutual option that likely becomes guaranteed for 2025. Through 2025 is the window........ and it isn't like there are pitching prospects banging down the door to replace Verlander and Valdez by 2025, and that doesn't even get into replacing 4 of your top 6 offensive players. Drew Gilbert is likely a long term corner outfielder. He will likely be good at getting on base and hit a lot of doubles - but he doesn't steal bases or hit a lot of homers. That is good, but replaceable and he is already almost 23 and hasn't been to AAA even. Ryan Clifford is someone I really liked - but the strikeout concerns are real. He was only in A+ and he struck out 125 times in 400 at bats and only hit 240.
sure are a lot of folks that missed the point/reference of this tweet lol Chris on X: "@Robobs84 People not understanding the background of that post just shows how many bandwagoners jumped onboard after the 2022 WS." / X (twitter.com)
