Astros vs. Kirby tomorrow....limited stats, but in 4 AB Tuck is hitting .500 with 1RBI in 3 AB Diaz .667 and Pena .200 in 5AB. Javier looks good against most everyone except Cal Raleigh who is hitting .600 in 5 AB with 1 HR and 4 RBI. Everyone else except Crawford (.250 in 12 AB with an RBI) is hitting below .200 including Ty France who is .091 in 11 AB. Very small sample size but Tuck & Diaz have had success and Javy needs to beware with Raleigh. Should be interesting.
Ah, fair. Just a bit confusing IMO, partly because it mixes things we control and things we don’t (ie to me “9 with 11 to go” sounds to me like if we win out we are in). But I get it now.
Question: So Clemson is the Aggie of South Carolina, Miss State is the Aggie of Mississippi.... Is Auburn the Aggie of Alabama? Or is the entire state just one big Aggie?
I remember this site being created (1995?). It coincided with my discovery of this new thing called the internet as a student at UT. AOL and 5-minute downloads were a thing
I was a little kid when I watched my first game, for some odd reason thou I'll never forget who was pitching. It was Shane Reynolds, I didn't know anything about baseball except The Stros were playing on a Sunday noon game. I didn't really follow the Astros until around 2004-2005 thou when I was in middle school. 2005 broke me...
Yep..we are the Aggie (Agricultural & Mechanical) school of Alabama. Despite being the Aggie school, we've GROWN some pretty recognizable alumni including the CEO of Apple Tim Cook- 6 astronauts including Ken Mattingly, Lionel Richie(grad school), the recently deceased Jimmy Buffet, Octavia Spencer, Bo Jackson, Charles Barkley, Frank Thomas,Cam Newton just to name a few.
Remember going to my first Colt 45s game....I believe it was 62 ....they were playing the Cardinals and Stan "The Man" Musial, I remember Bob Lillis, Bob Aspromonte, Joey Amalfitano and Jimmy Wynn as well as the Cards Julian Javier, Ken Boyer, Curt Flood and Bob Gibson. Whew ...that was many, many moons ago.You are in the same decade with me..you you go back a ways as well.
Yeah. I was going to school at UT at the time and I remember the address had a tilde in it. I remember when clutchcity.com was sold to rivals and was freaking out.
Great memories thinking back to those great times and players. It looks like I'm in the middle. Not quite old enough for the 45s and earliest stars, but have enjoyed the vast majority of Astros' history. Some of my earliest memories: Cocoa, Florida 1979. Julio Gonzalez giving me a box of baseball cards. J.R. Richard standing up and towering over me as my mom introduced him to me and Deacon Jones ( the Astros coach not the NFL HOF). J.R. shook my hand. Biggest man and hands I had ever seen. Joe Niekro driving a black Bronco with rainbow stripes. My sister skating all over the hotel property w/ Natalie Niekro. Eating dinner with Joe Sambito and his family. Helping someone in the organization. (Del Grapes? Not sure if that name is right but it is pretty stubbornly in my head) removing the names off of the back of rainbow jerseys so they could be reissued to the minor leaguers in camp. Many of those memories popped back into my head after decades as I typed this
