It's impossible to be more than 1 game behind the Mariners come Friday morning.

Not sure you understood what you were typing.

We need to figure out how to sweep this team so that our magic number heading into Thursday is only 1 to make the playoffs.

it’s so wrong. I feel just awful about it. I really should start calling men who’ve accomplished way more than me quitters and chokers and you should too! In fact it’s wrong to push back against people who do that! I feel bad, and you’ve show me the error of my ways. So for at least the 5th time tonite I will say: YOU CAN SAY WHATEVER YOU WANT TO SAY!! (but so can I)

Awesome win! Let’s hope it resets some of the mojo in the clubhouse. If Javier can do tomorrow what he did last time, it would go a LONG way to restoring confidence that our pitching can at least survive a playoff run.

A sweep in my opinion is a necessity. 2-1 means losing the series to the D-Backs (who are also fighting for their lives) ends our season if Seattle wins their last series against the Rangers. 3-0 and just avoiding the sweep clinches a playoff spot.

Then again, if this team acted like preserving a margin for error was important than these games wouldn't matter lmao.

A sweep also means that after the first win in Az they can shut down the key pitchers. Having to use JV and the high leverage guys at the end of that series would be very very unfortunate

So you think it's wrong to defend the defending World Series champion Houston Astros, for whom this is a message board, of being quitters? I think it's weird to spend all your time on a message board for a team you actively root to miss the Postseason when they're still in.

Of course, you are 100% permitted to retort. No one is keeping you from doing anything, certainly not of being a ****ing dick wad.

I posted a while back that I thought it would take 92 wins to win the division, the Rangers have 88 with like 6 to go. For this reason, I would take a 6th seed...but would have liked to have won the division of course. I think we will really regret the performance this month against the 2 worst teams in baseball. If we can just make the playioffs, maybe the light will come back on.

Most realistic attempt to win the division.

Win 4 of the next 5 (split with Seattle).

Rangers split the last 2 with the Angels and lose 3 of 4 to the desperate Mariners. Mariners lose the last of the 4 game series to fall short of the playoffs.

    Astros 90-72
    Rangers 90-72
    Mariners 88-74

    Gary Pettis x5 or so?

I never would have guessed that Chone Figgins stole 50 twice (62 and 52) and Luis Polonia stole 40 3 times in a row (48-51-55, and also got thrown out a hilariously high number of times) for the Angels.

I would have been completely wrong about Rod Carew stealing 30 bags for the Angels. His high was 23.

What a game for Verlander. With how our pitching has been lately, it’s refreshing to see a start like this.

    Build off this! Please!
