Yeah but he has bad hands, he muffed it before he took it to the house. We already got one TE in Schultz that drops balls.

I can't remember the last time I was interested in rewatching a Texans game, but this one is just as fun the 2nd time.

Because he has bad hands and slow acceleration. He managed to hit an impressive top speed, but it took him 20 yards of being untouched to do it. A return man's change of direction and acceleration is the most important thing.

Essentially he was able to take advantage of a completely broken play because after he muffed the kick, the Jags special teams completely abandoned their running lanes. In short, it was a fluke.

Watching that replay for like the 15th time, you will never see more craptastic kickoff coverage than that. 3 guys had a chance to tackle him within 5 yards of (finally) picking up the ball, then watch the last guy he beat, he ran way outside the far hashmark for reasons I can't explain, stopped turned around and then took a horrible angle to the far sideline.

This is not meant to take anything away from Beck. That was just badass.

Patterson may end up starting even after Juice comes back.

He's been pretty disappointing so far. I held hope he'd be a safety valve for CJ, but shoot BJ has produced more than he has.

From the eye test, just watching OL a bit Patterson looked pretty good. Maybe he or Juice slide to LG after Wk4.

Looks like the rookie center had a solid game.

And crazy enough, that last guy was a safety....taking a proper route to cut off a player and not give up a TD is one of his primary responsibilities. My guess is that he underestimated Beck's speed based on his size and didn't realize that he really needed to take a better route. Either way, he should be running laps after the game forever for that mistake.

    Beck ran a 4.63 40 with a 1.56 10 yd split (acceleration)
    For reference Will Anderson ran a 4.60 40 with a 1.61 10 yd split.
Beck is a solid athlete at fullback, more straight line than anything. Played TE at Texas and linebacker in highschool.

Keep Patterson at C if he continues to play well, and let Juice play left guard.

Jimmie Ward calls defensive communication during the game "an open-book test," says LB Henry To'oTo'o did a good job at middle linebacker, and they all help each other out.

Jimmie Ward on Andrew Beck's kick return TD: "Hopefully I see that on ESPN's Top 10... that's one of the craziest plays I've seen since playing in the NFL."

Jimmie Ward on the first win: "It's good to get a win, just to see what it feels like. I don't know what it was like last year... but to get a win in the division early is good, and we're going in the right direction."

Jimmie Ward says C.J. Stroud held the ball longer at the start of training camp. But he got the ball out quicker later on. DeMeco Ryans actually put the play clock out there in practice, something Ward wished they did in San Francisco.

Jimmie Ward on what the win can do for the team: "It can help it, and it can hurt it. It can help by having everybody stay consistent ... It can hurt it by guys being too up... Nah, we got to push a little bit harder. I've seen it work both ways."

Jimmie Ward says he's talked to some of the older guys on the team about helping out C.J. Stroud lead, talking to the team in some moments instead. "Dude's going to run out of words... You run out of stuff to say to hype a bunch of grown men up."

Texans cornerback Shaq Griffin was targeted 10 times against the Jaguars, per PFF, with 7 catches for 81 yards

Texans LB Blake Cashman on the first win: "It's a feeling that's addicting, and we want it to continue."

Tank Dell says his little brother made him mad a little bit. Dell visited with his family after the game, and when he walked up, his brother asked, "Where's C.J. at?" "Like... what? Did you not see me out there?"

That's pretty good for his size even if it's more top end speed than burst. You could tell as he hit his stride that the kicker and DBs vastly underestimated their angles. Still hilarious as hell and absolutely nice to see those nutty plays swing our way for a change.

One of the commentators mentioned it on a replay, but during the return there was an absolute trainwreck upfield that took down like 6-7 players. Perfect storm :)

That being said I'd be up for using Beck as a decoy on some flat or wheel routes. Who knows?

"Dude's going to run out of words... You run out of stuff to say to hype a bunch of grown men up." -- Ward on vets talking instead of Stroud

Ward is an interviewer's dream, but that's the best quote of the whole bunch
