3rd all time in passing yards through 3 games. #1 alltime most passes to start a career without an INT. Some guys are not easily impressed, but there is more at play IMO. Hard to root for guys when they went against a preferred build or archetype or just amatuer fan ego when it comes to WHO guys want to root for in alignment with draftniks and their rankings. CJ is a blue collar guy. No complaining. No sitting out because his shoulder was sore. No throwing teammates or coaches under the bus. Film rat who already seems to have a handle on orchestrating drives and even better being hyper effective on critical downs. Once the dick measuring contests start to die down I think people wont be able to ignore what the kid can do for this franchise. If this team can build a top 10 OL this guy will be a problem for DCs. Cant speak for everyone, but Im sold.
This seems like a pretty random stat. First who the hell is sooooo bored that they measure distance from QB to defender. Is there a scale for football like on an atlas like one inch on tv is = to 1.67 yards???? Also what if you get pancaked and while you are on you arse the QB scrambles your direction thus reducing the yardage of proximity. Man, there is a stat for everything.
The best part of this was that it is exactly the kind of bullshit that usually happens TO the Texans and has me screaming at my TV screen. I like this much better.
This one too, Does anyone have access to the fancy fancy stats. I want to know how much motion was used. Eye test has it going up from the first game, a Kubiahan staple.
Seeing the draft picks Stroud, Dell, and Anderson all make impact plays is such a great feeling. When you hit on the draft fortune can change almost right away.
I don't really feel like play calling was so much the difference, the Texans defense was hot garbage in the first half too, but the Jags just kept shooting themselves in the foot. Probably the worst player on the field for either team was Calvin Ridley, the guy kept having the ball bounce off his hands and then he'd fake injury out of embarrassment. Several drives in the first half died specifically due to him being terrible. On top of that, you had Lawrence flat out missing receivers that were wide open that killed drives. In the second half they came out fired up and at least initially were making far fewer mistakes on offense. IMO that was the main difference.
So far, looks like the Texans hit the jackpot with Stroud. Texans likely to play the "spoiler" role this year and contend next year or the next.
He should also get some carries, not from the FB position but like Mike Alstott, single back up the gut.
If Beck is able to reach 20mph and make people's miss with his size, why not let him try returning more?
Hell, after everyone in the NFL has seen that kick return...put him out there, send him in motion, watch the entire defense start yelling and pointing, then run a play to the other side. Pure decoy style.
