3 years is typically the judgement on a draft class.
You do realize that same argument goes for his fanboys right? If he is ass the rest of the season, how long are you going to theoretically give him?
Last year people were claiming Fields had turned a corner, well how’s that look?
Hurts, Jones, Murray contracts look a bit over paid

If Stroud leads the Texans to a Super Bowl or even an appearance, then he’s legit.

It also matters on what you consider a win. Is Goff/Dak/Cousins level of play a win?

Texans get a win. More good things on the field. But they are still getting their act together, so I expect hair pulling losses to punctuate the improvement.

I still expect 8-9 wins and maybe more wins than Cleveland.

… But Jaguars kicker Brandon McManus kicked the ball short, high and right to Beck.

Boone bumped into Beck as he proceeded forward, causing the fullback to fumble the ball as he tried to corral it.

“From the looks of it, it felt like a ball that I could get to, so I was letting him know, ‘I can get it. I can get it.’ But I didn’t say it loud enough, so he didn’t hear me,” Boone said. “The ball went on the ground, and it was history from there.”

Beck scooped it up cleanly, avoided one Jaguars defender flying at him from the right side, then juked and avoided two more Jaguars defenders coming at him from the left side.

He then stiff-armed Jaguars cornerback Tre Herndon, outran McManus, the kicker, and hurdled running back D’Ernest Johnson. By then, there was nothing in front of Beck but the end zone.

He raced downfield, his hair flowing behind him.

“Just looked up and saw some space and started hauling ass, and it worked out all right,” Beck said. “Sometimes that’s just how it goes. Gotta make a play.”

… But Beck’s kick return, when no one was expecting it, changed the game.

“That was a huge momentum swing for us,” said Texans tight end Brevin Jordan, who scored a touchdown of his own and was the first to greet Beck in the end zone. “I’ve got to check the GPS on it. He had to easily hit 18 (mph).”

According to NFL’s Next Gen stats, Beck hit 20.37 miles per hour on the GPS, the fastest of any player on the field during that play.

“We just needed another spark,” Jordan said. “His touchdown just quieted the crowd. It resettled the team, I feel like, so we could be like, all right, let’s go do this again.’ ”

The Texans outscored the Jaguars 20-7 over the game’s final 21 minutes.

Beck, who signed with the Texans during the offseason after spending the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Broncos, had scored only one other time during his brief NFL career — a 1-yard touchdown catch from Drew Lock during his rookie year in 2019.

The 85-yarder was the Texans’ first kick return touchdown since Tremon Smith's 98-yarder in Week 15 of the 2021 regular season and the first TD off a kick return for an NFL fullback since 2005, according to ESPN Stats and Info.

It was also the NFL’s first kick return for a touchdown this season.

Beck didn’t immediately celebrate after the score. He looked back to make sure no flags had been thrown. Because even he couldn’t believe it until he crossed the end zone.

    There were no flags.

“It was definitely not how we drew it up,” Beck said with a laugh. “But hey, even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes.”

Amazing what can happen when you have a pretty good quarterback and give him time to throw...

Hurts has not looked good this year so far. Not like last year.
Burrow too, but Burrow has done more than Hurts. He has leeway

Yea just looked after you mentioned it and I don’t see a lot of “unwinnable” games on there.

Huge effort by OL today! We didn't have much of a run game, but not allowing a sack was a team effort between them, CJ and Bobby calling a good game.

Today was the most fun I've had watching a Texans game in a long time!!!

This play made me believe the Football Gods were behind us today. Unbelievable play!

We gotta protect CJ against that Steeler defensive front. Watt had Jimmy G. looking like a pretzel on that hit.

    Yeah for sure.

I'm just wanting to get specifics so we don't have to play this game every Sunday.

If he plays like ass all season I'm sure we'll assume he sucks until evidence indicates otherwise.

If he plays great all season we should probably assume he's great until evidence indicates otherwise.

The only reason not to is if a person dug too deep on an early take and can't adapt to what we're seeing without that ego taking a hit.
