    I was thinking that they get rid of the hard rules about it and call it based on the play at the time, on whether or not the batter actually interfered. I don’t mind giving the umps the leeway to make a good call. The runner should have the right to occupancy the space down the line.

    Every time it’s called, the opposing team is furious. It cannot really get any worse. There’s always an umpire meeting every time it happens anyway. Hell, it happens so rarely they should just make it an automatic review.
