It's sad to think that if we played the Royals in the playoffs that we'd have lost 3 games to 1 (taking September record) In a 7 game series we still have an outside chance of forcing a game #7 I blame Will Harris
WWBBD "Billy Beane : ̶D̶a̶v̶i̶d̶, [Michael] you're [almost] 37. How about you and I be honest about what each of us want out of this? I wanna milk the last ounce of baseball you got in you. And you wanna stay in the show."
True, but he still puts Diaz in the bottom 3, which is so damn stupid it pisses me off. He's 2nd best behind Alvarez in OBP & SLG, and tied for first with 5 HR the past 15 games.
If Brantley can't go, IL him and bring up Cesar Salazar. I expect him on the playoff roster anyway, to allow Maldy to C and Diaz to DH (or 1B), and then not lose the DH or have to play with only one catcher. So far this has never hurt us but I don't like giving up the DH if we don't have to, because you never know. Also, taking out your first catcher and bringing in the only other catcher is risky because, what if he gets injured, or ejected from the game? Need to have a plan just in case.
And those are the types of pitchers who usually have a career game against the Astros. At least we tagged him for four runs last time, but this time that may not be enough. But we'll also have already seen him recently, so that's usually advantage hitters.
Carr's fWAR was 0.9 that season for the Astros. It's REALLY hard to be as absolutely awful at baseball as Martin Maldonado is this season.
Interesting Chas McCormick stats: Chas .281/.362/.863. 21 HRs, 68 RBIs in 108 games (377 ABs) Springer .260/.331/.735, 20 HRs, 66 RBIs in 147 games (581 ABs)
I wish Diaz actually got a little time in LF. During the offseason and Spring Training, Dana said that he could play at least some left because of MMP's dimensions and the fact that he's played some corner OF in the minors. I also vividly remember him slated to start there in the exhibition game vs Sugar Land, only to be scratched at the last minute. TBH, I think he'd play the position well, since he has surprising speed, good hustle, and of course he'd get to use his arm.
