It just seems like some phase of the game breaks down every game. The starter will go out and give up 4 to 5 runs early. Or the offense will only get 1 or 2 hits. Or it will be a close game and the bullpen collapses. Or the defense makes a bad throw on an easy play and gives up a big inning.
Abreu has hit 5 HR in the last 15 games and has been in the top 3 SLG. That's stepping it up, but yeah, his OBP could improve. Pena should be in our bottom 3 of the lineup. Last 15 games best to worst OBP - Alvarez, Diaz, Bregman, McCormick, Tucker, Pena, Abreu, Maldonado SLG - Alvarez, Diaz, Abreu, Tucker, Maldonado, McCormick, Pena, Bregman HR - Alvarez, Diaz, Abreu (5), Maldonado (3), Bregman, Tucker, McCormick (2), Pena (0)
Is anyone else tired of posting/seeing the "perfect lineups"?? Not blaming posters for doing it, just saying it's disgusting we even have to.
It was worth a try for a while earlier in the season...didn't work like last year. Bregman has absolutely wrecked **** hitting 2nd, I have no idea why you wouldn't just put him there and leave him.
Wasn’t that the popular anti Dusty argument for most of the year (“how is he stupid enough not to bat him 2nd?!?”). Not sure why he can’t seem to have success anywhere in the lineup… and not sure how they get him right going forward.. but this current lineup could sure use his power that has been gone for most of the season.
I'm starting to think these guys would rather be resting at home on the sofa this year watching it. They are like a faulty spark plug. Give it a rest, sparky!
Yep... but Mold will play 120 games and Houston will miss the playoffs by 2 games. Diaz won't win ROY despite being the best rookie.
Just for fun, here's an exhaustive list of every single player in Astros/Colt 45's history with an fWAR of -1.3 or worse 2023 Martin Maldonado 2014 Matt Dominguez 2010 Carlos Lee 2010 Pedro Feliz 2006 Preston Wilson 1990 Eric Anthony 1984 Ray Knight 1983 Luis Pujols 1978 Luis Pujols 1978 Mike Fischlin 1969 Jesus Alou 1968 Lee Thomas 1966 Bob Lillis 1965 Bob Lillis 1963 Bob Lillis
