idk, but i would assume that it doesnt necessarily matter if charges are dropped or not - the NBA can still lower the boom.... kinda like the threshold is lower for a civil case vs a criminal case... just because he may not get charged criminally - doesnt mean the NBA cant find sufficient evidence to prove he's in violation of the code of conduct... i could be wrong... but that'd be my assumption...
They can, but they have to be careful to avoid the lawsuit, they have settled many lawsuits before by overstepping - DMO comes to mind...... So they want to make sure they go by the letter of the negotiated CBA and have the players association on board with any discipline to avoid a lawsuit. DD
