Yes, last year they had us at 23.5 wins......we finished at 22 wins.
    So in the ballpark.

I'm saying, we will finish 31 wins (before KPj incident)
26 wins (if we don't replace KPj shooting)

Vegas has the Rockets at 31.5 wins

That's laughingstock material....in before it happens.

    That's all.

I remember you guys were happy when we traded Harden for picks. Told you we would suck for at least 5 years. It's looking more like a decade now. Sad to say I'm no longer a rocket's fan but at least I don't have to give **** while they become the new Clippers/Sacramento Kings.

That's so weird given the perception of the Rockets as one of the brightest young cores in the leagye by non rocket media.

Just don't jump on the bandwagon if the young core develops into something worthwhile

I think without KPJ the Rockets will do better. They will miss his shooting but they won't miss his on court chemistry killing. Call it a wash.

    31.5 wins is silly.

You have to have spacing. We lack that at a great level.

Jabari shot 37% in the final 19 or 9 games of last season. Shot it
well in the two or three games of summer league. He is the only
one I have my defense guarding close.

I would pack the paint for no driving lanes.

In a game of balance between Ying and Yang.....Rockets only have Yangs
Guys that want to drive. The current crew have to drive to get a rhythm
and start making 3's. We have no hit 3's stepping off the bus type shooters.
We will lack consistency to do that for 82 games unless you bring in a
Duncan Robinson, Seth Curry, Joe Harris, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Booker,
Beal type players. Guys that don't need to drive to bury their buckets.

KPj has been one of the best the past two seasons at CnS 3's.
Under 2 attempts per game; but Udoka was going to tell him to shot
over 4 a game if it presented itself.

    26 games

Detroit GM was smart, brought in Joe Harris to go with Boggy Bogdanovic so that
Cade Cunningham, Ivey, Monte Morris could have some spacing.

Duren, Wiseman and Bagley can crash the glass. Pistons will be better than Houston.
Not because of better talent.....because of better balance.

The hospitality and gambling business is a tricky one.......as we heard he had to get a tons of loans to do his investments.

And I do not want to know about Covid 19.

Predicting win total for this team is a total crapshoot at this point. We haven't even had a glimpse how they look. No idea about how the pieces fit. New Head Coach with a total of one year HC experience... Top talent rookie coming from a church league... I have zero idea of what we are.

If the team coalesces and gets traction around Fred and Dillon, and if some of the young talents make a decisive step forward, this very well could be a 0.500 team

But if the shtshow continues with Stone meddling, mixed agendas (i.e. Green trying to inflate his numbers to get the extension, forcing playing time on Amen for "development", etc. etc..) we'll be stuck in the gutter.

Why is he the "laughingstock" of NBA owners?

I know that his hotels, casinos and restaurants are all quite sketchy, but why does the NBA care?

It is not that important why we laughed but that we knew we laughed and move forward with laughing.

Fertitta's a laughingstock through and through. All other NBA owners can laugh and be grateful that someone else is playing the role of fool.

It has been and continues to be Fertitta's wish to employ Stone at the GM position. In every way, Stone has made countless errors--from overstepping and micromanaging players to contract extensions to free agency bungles to the trade deadline. The list goes on and on. Players don't trust him, and everyone can see that he's in over his head.

His best skill is the draft, but I would suggest that a part-time person--with no NBA connections or experience--can do that part of the job. You could outsource it to a consultant and get about the same results as we've had.

Almost any competent GM can take the best available player on the draft board. We failed to move up or make shrewd choices when we had loads of picks. We've held on to players when they've had upside until they don't.

We just had 2 of our first-round picks fall off our roster because we couldn't or wouldn't flip them into future capital.

And we've spent years building around a volatile player who will likely spend his prime years in jail. After the first, second, or third PUBLIC mistake, we should have moved on. This latest incident with KPJ is what, number 10?

Our billionaire owner allows incompetent managers to parade and squander his wealth. That, my friends, is the definition of a laughingstock.

Yeah im not sure most of the NBA world really puts too much attention on him. There’s also a history of some pretty big dunces in the nba owner community. Donald Sterling, Sarver, Dolan, etc.

I think this is more of an internal Houston sports fan grievance thing which is understandable based on what we were used to. Les didn’t have deep pockets to contend financially with the Bahlmers of the world but he was a solid owner nonetheless and we got a bit spoiled for decades.

Tilllman is a POS, but at least at the moment I don’t think he’s the laughing stock of the NBA. The rockets more generally are known as a laughing stock because of culture of petulant players that are allowed to run the franchise into the ground. That’s ultimately on Tillman but he won’t get discussed as much as the players and the coaches.

Good take….biggest issue for this team is what got the FIBA team and that’s no height. Small ball is back and that’s a definite problem.

We've got two 6'11" guys in the starting lineup, the backup PG is 6'7", and we have some wings with decent length. Height-wise, I'm not worried. Short-term, I am a bit worried about bulk and strength not matching the height.

Basically you have a bench without much shooting.

Starting unit - 2 slower guys not athletic - 1 guy is super athletic and fast - 2 average to above average athletes (bigs)

The pace will be taken down.

Can we just say that our PG rotation has an average of 6'4? :D

Why are we talking about player heights in a Tilman Fertitta thread?
