Had he been wearing a hoodie doing that stuff, he would have been an antifah. Throwing a brick at a police car is next level.
Not even the half of it! Been on a 3 year long guilt trip about why I don’t want to hang out all the time anymore. Like I’m happy he did what he get he needed to do to take care of the fam but also I’ve never been one to seek the attention of law enforcement. Plus I’ve been on the wrong end of a couple power trips, so it’s hard to accept in the first place.
Never called 911. Have called non emergency a few times for theft. A few weeks ago I was painting the garage and while walking outside to check on me my wife accidentally hit the panic button on our house alarm. Alarm company called I told them it was an accident. Three minutes later two cops showed up. I told them we had told the alarm company it was an accident. Officer said they come out anyway if it's a panic alarm.
I was on my way home after a Astros game. I got behind what I assumed was a drunk drunk driver. The drive could not keep his truck between the lines. I tried to give the driver a chance but once he went off the road in to the ditch then back on the road I called 911. Explained to the operator what was going on, gave a description of the truck, and location . She said they had someone in route. I fallowed the truck until they pulled over. At first I was going to pull over as well staying far enough away from the truck. Then I started thinking what if they have a gun or something. So I passed the truck and continued on my way home. A few minutes later a approaching car made a u-turn, turn turned the red and blues on, and pulled me over. Apparently in the dark my truck fit the description of the assumed drunk driver's truck. I explained to the deputy what happened and where I last saw the other truck. He checked me for warrants and sent me on my way. Then the deputy went back in the direction from which he came instead of looking for the assumed drunk driver.
That's what you get. ***************** I was partying with a bunch of college kids once when I was 27-28. At the time I had a DUI and was on probation and wasn't supposed to drink. I saw flashing lights outside of the front window of the house we were at and it was the cops. I took off out the back door. This was in Galveston, and the fences between the houses were 4ft chain link. I proceeded to vault every fence in my getaway run, sort of like Farris Bueller and luckily there were no dogs. Thing is, when you're running drunk through yards in the dark, you tend to snag on stuff. I got to the last house and I heard 'what the hell!' and it was a couple of older folks sitting on the back porch getting high. I made a split decision to tell the truth and they laughed and said I could use their phone (I had lost mine earlier in the week) but that I had to clean off first. I looked down and I was covered in mud, dirt, vines, blood from a long scratch, and had a 6-ft yard ornament hooked into my belt. I called my roommate and he came and scooped me up and we went and hopped bars until 2am.
Bump. Didn't want to start a new thread, but this story is both infuriating and kinda funny. I had no idea that the old-school small town speed traps were still around...and they were doing it to their own residents, wtf? After investigative reports showed a small East Texas town had one officer for every five residents, city officials canned their police chief and deactivated the police department. Now, locals are showing up at city hall to have their tickets dismissed due to over policing. Coffee City, a town in East Texas with a population of 250, had 50 officers heavily patrolling city streets and issuing millions of dollars in traffic tickets, according to a KHOU 11 investigative report. https://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local/article/coffee-city-police-18380508.php https://www.khou.com/article/news/i...cers/285-4220e73c-90d4-474e-b59e-2033270cd8e9 I had to look up the place on google, and it's one of the few in Texas I've never been within ~100 miles of.
Theres a lake there and a border to a pretty good sized dry county that includes Tyler TX. Makes sense but doesnt at the same time.
Ahhh...I forgot Tyler was still dry. I'd be real curious (it's public info) to see the breakdown of what they were writing tickets for.
When I see traffic cops, especially in cities where I know there are a lot, I always wonder what went through that cop's head when they realized they were just part of a revenue engine and not saving lives.
Around Marble Falls I wish there were more traffic cops. I see absolutely dangerous bulls!!t on a regular basis.
Yep, the same guy, same place, most days, just zapping people for tickets. Agree and conversely, I say 'where are the ****ing cops when you need them'. I think traffic enforcement is a good thing. There are areas where you won't get pulled over unless you're doing utterly stupid **** like running stop signs or red lights or doing 10+ (or 1+ in school zones) over the speed limit. But there are towns where it's excessive and you can get pulled over for doing 35 in a 30.
Most dangerous people around here: speeders (HSers, tweakers, assholes, etc...) commercial trucks (from 18-wheelers to dumptrucks) confused tourists guy hauling janky bumper-pull trailer with s!!t trying to fall off ... ... ... everybody else
The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, dickheads....they all love to drive around there.
