I respectfully disagree. When the issue is mostly ego driven it’s hard to see a (what alcoholics call) “a moment of clarity” coming where Stone wakes up and realizes he’s gotta change. When he speaks I hear a guy whose confidence in himself isn’t going to be shaken.

He is a true believer in his ability to be the smartest guy in the room always. It’s that blindness by his ego that made him think he knew more about rotations and basketball decisions than the coaches. It’s also what made him blind to the KPJ situation too I’m sure.

However there’s no denying he has talent and knowledge. There’s a reason Morey relied on him so much with cap maneuvers, contracting, etc. He’s just not a leader which is fine. Some folks are meant to lead.

I’d like to keep him as GM but hire a President of Basketball ops over him. Someone that has that Rudy T type of respect, common sense, high character valuation, and backbone to call out players, coaches, etc. Someone who can also tell Tillman what he needs to hear too.

Basically just going to the DA, going to the Police, paying Gondrezick and the hospital a visit. Asking hotel staff. Watching footage.

    The works.

Then sitting with Players Associationa and come up with a solution!

Sure, and how long is a reasonable time frame? Feels like it's been enough time.

This has nothing to do with James Harden and has nothing to do with Daryl Morey.

This is completely the fault of Stone, Porter and ownership.

Because the GM of the team covered for him.

There is more that will come out.

Then Stone is really stupid. You don't hold volatile dynamite for multiple years and also give him 16 million guaranteed in 2023-2024. No one was EVER going to trade a lot for Porter because they knew he was a problem in the past AND the whole league knew he was still a problem.

Always joked about what would happen to Batman when the Joker had to be instituted in Arkham asylum. Never actually thought he would strike a woman. Team wise it's a good thing for the rest of the guys. You could always feel tension brewing when things weren't going his way. I was hoping he'd change and but into team ball.

Makes me wonder if there was more to that fight in Miami. Could see how things could have escalated quickly from what we know now.

Nope. All of this proves that Silas lacks a back bone and is a pushover. Silas could have stood up to Stone early on. The worst that happens is he is fired and respected for standing up for the proper way to coach a team - instead he didn't stand up for himself or for his players and let his GM decide how he did everything from who started to whether Silas could stand when he urinated or if he had to sit like a woman.... Silas' reputation is ruined around the league. He will be able to get assistant coaching jobs where he doesn't have to be a great leader, but not a head coach.

I haven't been cryptic at all ........ for almost two full years I have said he is abusive to employees for the Rockets, that it is so bad that some call in sick to avoid him. He is abusive to coaches, he has had multiple physical altercations and verbal altercations with coaches were nearly a daily event. He would throw a fit and pout at practice, and disrupt practices and in some cases full out stop practices. He was late to practice more than anyone else. He tried to bully players like Jabari Smith and Josh Christopher and Alpren Sengun in practice. He would go to the GM to miss practice and no one would let Silas know and when punishment was suggested by Silas, the GM would step in. He has had numerous run ins with the public and again he is just removed from the situation by other players or Rocket's employees. When he did not like something he would refuse to practice. He also supposedly has missed several engagements that he was supposed to be at while representing the team.

That is what I have heard from numerous people around the team for two years - and it wasn't a secret around the NBA world.

Stone has had Porter Jr, Christian Wood and Rodions Kurucs as members of the team .... and that doesn't even include Anthony Lamb and Dennis Schroeder.

In three years the Rockets under Stone have had two players beat and choke their girlfriends (Porter and Kurucs), another accused of rape (Anthony Lamb).... another that was charged with felony battery that also is considered the worst teammate in the league (Dennis Schroeder)...... another that refused to check into the game and is widely considered a cancer (Woods).

There is a reason that the Rockets organization under Stone has a really back reputation for culture..... there is a reason that numerous agents and fathers did not want their sons/clients on the Rockets.

I am not a reporter - and more importantly my income is not dependent on reporting what I hear or what I am told - I also am protected somewhat online. The media in Houston has always been extremely soft.... the Rockets knew they could cut off access to a reporter locally if they wanted to. In places like Chicago and NY, there is so much fan interest that there is media that can afford the risk of reporting what the team doesn't like and still have a job.

I will just say that I know some of the local media was aware that KPJ was a ragging ******* off the court and that he potentially dangerous, but they either feared being sued or losing their jobs.

Well thank you I missed some of that before...I recall the treating employees bad, that is unbelievably horrid.

**** KPJ he is gone now.

But it sounds like you think Stone let all this happen and should be fired as well....wouldn't that be on Tillman too?

    And seriously appreciate you NOOK

Yeah - TF hired Stone and let Stone get away with this so far.
However, TF can’t be fired and he isn’t selling the team… also TF isn’t following the team every day, and he doesn’t know everything going on like Stone does..

FWIW I have heard zero from anyone around the Rockets that Stone is going to lose his job. Things are still coming out but it seems for now that Stone is likely safe.

Thanks Nook, Stone and Fertitta allowing this to happen is insane….shocking behaviour. This makes Vernon Maxwell look like a saint. One guy single-handedly ruined the locker room and Stone enabled it to the point where he’s ruined Silas’s career and reputation. This explains why Silas looked broken at times. He really was suffering in this toxic, rotten work environment. How does Stone come back from this?! Udoka definitely not putting up with any of this ****.

OMG it just hit me, KPJ alone at that conference says a lot. Nobody wanted to be around that guy and everyone on the team knew he was Stone and TF’s guy. Can we say, white saviour syndrome? Did they want to be like what Phil Jackson was to Rodman?

Do you have details on this one? I confess I haven't seen much on it, and haven't had much time to really dig in the weeds on here as of late.

We have also heard from people with connections that Bruno Fernando is the goat, sooo... :D
