Every time biden does a big speech or big performance his numbers go up big time. Before state of the union speech they did a focus group where biden had a -17 on his mental fitness pre speech than post speech it went +11 . The more people see actual biden versus online clipped videos his numbers always improve. At the end of the day if biden doesn't get gas prices down he won't win the election no matter what. Americans are tired of high gas prices and high interest rates. Biden gets the war over with and gets prices down he wins. If he doesn't regardless how he performs Americans will vote for trump. The 2020 strategery was keep Biden in the basement and let Trump hang himself. Trump did poorly in the first debate and it was all over. i think the Biden team will stick with that same strategy because that's what they are essentially doing during his presidency. I disagree he loses on a single issue of gas prices or inflation. If it is indeed Trump vs Biden it will be all time low turnout % and the issue will be whatever is topical in the fall.
The strategy wasn't to keep biden in the basement. The strategy was to overhype covid and blame trump for all his covid policies. Biden couldn't campaign or have any ground game in 2020 cuz if he did then he would be 2 faced for challenging trumps covid but following them also. Democrats overhyped covid and it cost them alot of votes. People thought biden was going issue lock downs and alot of ppl voted for trump for freedom. Covid was a losing issue for Democrats. Bidens entire pitch is his retail politics. He's never had donors or rich people that support him. He's always done great at retail politics. When campaign season starts and he's out doing daily events in public then the age issue will matter less. Biden will win or lose election on gas prices and interest rates. The voters who are most keen to the democratic coalition are black nd Latino men. These working class folks will not pay 5 dollar diesel and 4 dollar gas for another 5 years.
