It’s simplistic to believe that Biden can end the war in Ukraine though some deal that withholds aid from Ukraine, gets Ukraine to give up land, Russia to accept Ukraine in NATO and the rest of NATO accept Ukraine. All in time for the election. yes gas prices aren’t good but it’s less likely the above is pulled off and suddenly leads to lower gas prices. That’s what you’re missing that Biden can unilaterally or quickly end the war and that the end of the war would even then lead to lower gas prices. Your whole re-election strategy is based on that and there are several factors there they Biden cannot even control in the US such as getting Congress to go along with it.
The projection of Republicans is so transparent. If your goal is autocracy then she’s not wrong from her perspective. The less that Americans believe in our Constitutional democracy which relies on equal shared power of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, the more they will crave a messiah figure who will come in and save all their problems with a flick of the wrist. These Republicans in Congress are happy to destroy their own power in Congress because they believe if they can fundamentally change the power structure in this country they will be in a greater position of power and wealth.
There are certainly some republicans that think that way. According to Romney there are also those who are acting out of literal fear for their own and family’s safety.
And this is the problem. Many Republicans are willing to cheat and saw how close they were to cheating their way to victory in 2020. They are working to erase the safeguards that prevented the coup from working in order to make it work the next time.
