In no way is it normal but being raised in proverty, around violence situations and violent people, drugs is not normal either. If you come from a middle class environment, where that was not common, then you do not know how much that affected him. The situations are different. Dont know if you are from Houston or not but its like Yates Highschool and Memorial Highschool.....two total situations! One cant possibly understand the other. Not black and white but households. KPJ is only a product of his environment. The reason why I can relate, because I too came from an environment very similar to his BUT you have to fight through it. And the only way to fight through it is by getting out of that environment AND maturing. I've been fortunate to separate myself from that and live in an upper middle class area.. Im blessed! Look at it like this, KPJ has lived 17, 18 yrs in that life and only 4, 5 yrs out of the life, that you all know as NORMAL! Unfortunately, its going to take him some time, time that may not be on his side in the NBA.
They will also, obviously, have crime scene photos. And, in the Foxnews article the lawyer does admit there was a fight, and says “she’s not minimizing what happened.” So, sounds like she’s already choosing not to change the whole story, just correcting the vertebrae facts, which a competent defense team should have been able to determine on their own, using their own forensic pathologist.
Let's say he is a product of his environment. You can specify in details if he is a bad, rather poor, relatively good product of his bad environment. And he is hell for sure not a decent product. He turned out way worse. Dude is 23 and on his way to prison, although he was given a leading role on a team in a decent market. That is likely the worst outcome for a budding NBA player. I know you are trying to find excuses ---- Zero tolerance and zero excuses. Money and Greed and Entitlement played a role as well. Should not have been an NBA player to begin with because his problems started since High School, College and the Cavaliers.
I think I understand what you're saying and maybe he shouldn't have never been given a chance to play in the NBA based upon his background. I don't know. All Im saying is that as a person, if he has lived 17, 18 yrs in an impoverished environment, how can you expect him to change in 3, 4, 5yrs? And think about it, what has really changed in his life since coming into the NBA? This is probably his first long term relationship, he probably havent had couseling, nor does he have any children. Those are things that can TRULY change a person. The only thing changed in his life since he left highschool is that he got paid. So he's richer than he was 4, 5 yrs ago but the same person. He needs time to mature and develop as a person.
That is why I think a ball club should protect itself from those type of players. This is the 2nd time after Royce White. And the Rockets had their fair share of knuckle heads ...... (Terrence Williams, Terrence Jones, Metta World Peace, Von Wafer......) I mean yes there are players that are semi functional ...... like Ariza who has history with the women too. Although Ariza has kids involved. Lamar Odom with cocaine and the Kardashians. But you keep that under wraps until you are 30+.
I dont know if you know it or not BUT those type of players are spreaded all throughout the NBA, NFL and NBL too. Unfortunately, for KPJ his story became public. Most women keep quiet because they know the severity of the situation if the story gets out.
Yeah, I know but there are types that can control themselves during season and after a season. I am sure KPJ is the kind that cannot control himself. Or not to the degree that is not harming an organization. I mean that kind that cannot even function well as a human, and we are not even talking as a baller. Foul body language.....no respect towards elders. Basic interpersonal stuff.... Same with Christian Wood who basically cannot follow orders without mouthing off. Wood is a better player because he gets you 17 and 8 in any environment but he is not functioning as a human being.
I mean it is not like those women have no other dating choices other than ballers and athletes. But yeah, dependent on the environment, the regular male could be into gang stuff too. They keep dating them.
Every organization has them, not just the Rocket,. even the Spurs. Bryan Forbes was just charged with assault, Devonte Graham suspended for DUI, Josh Primo released for sexual misconduct. Its everywhere not just the Rockets.
Yes, the Rockets just are not adept at dealing with said situations and players. There is also luck involved with head cases that have minor repercussions or in KPJ' s case major global repercussions. Because he did that in the Center of the Eye Downtown New York. Dropping your pants in Primo's case is disgusting, you get psychological damage from it, it was not this big news thing like this one. Also our own Ime Udoka. (You could argue those are manageable affairs/problems) The Spurs acted very well and actually did a serviceable job at damage control. They made the minor mistake not listening to the female until it was too late.
Actually, I think because of the age we're in, with the internet, everything is profound. People get news faster and we can learn more about the situation. For example, Vernon Maxwell played for the Spurs, so did Stephen Jackson. Both were WILD! The Spurs had a lot of players like that but it was kept under wraps. We only hear what is made public....trust me!
It is also a positive for us fans, because most of us who are not idiots, we understand what is going on faster. We are fed more information. It is easier for us to forgive the organization. In this case not so much.
That's another aspect I did notntake into account was where the incident occured....NEW YORK! By it happening there, it was magnified further. Not minimizing the situation but everything in NY is magnified
