My take is that Porter, like Silas, was never seen as a serious long-term commitment by the Rockets. No matter what Stone and others said, he was more of a place-holder while the team endured those tanking seasons and picked up their future stars. I think that is one of the reasons that his contract was so non-committal and structured so that there was little guaranteed money after this season. This season, he would have had a chance to prove that he could play an effective backup role. But even then, the team would have been looking to gradually increase the minutes of Thompson and Whitmore in the long term. Unless he wow'ed the new coaching staff, he probably would have seen his minutes fluctuate as things moved forward. It would've been a pretty hard pill to swallow after being told he was an important core player for the last two years. Of course, this is all moot now. He's got MUCH bigger things to worry about.
Not bad. I think they gave up on the idea half way or after 5 months, that he would be here for longer than 2-4 years. Especially that half time meltdown against Lucas sealed it.
On a night out......a 6'4 guy on drugs or alcohol or medication.... high strung out.. Locking the door is the least you could do.
The part at the end about KPJ being NBA booty to be traded for Debbie snack cakes, ramen noodles, and other commissary items by Mr. Sprinkles in Sing Sing had me cracking up.
It's almost like he was just waiting until the $16M guarantee kicked in. Like he drew a line in his mind that he had to make it to August 1st for the big salary to start, and it took every fiber of his being to get there, and once he did, all of his pent-up issues had to be released. It's a sad situation when someone who has all of these incentives and support can't put it together. And once they lose that, the deck is really going to be stacked against them.
That attack was too vicious to find any sympathy, empathy, sadness for that man. Her situation is sad.
For this offense, jail/prison time would be justified and likely necessary. His inability to resolve these issues will continue to affect many more people than just himself. It’s sad any time a person is unable to integrate into societal norms.
