I actually think Singleton has been fine as a bench bat and backup 1B. I'm not saying I would like to see him start the season next year on the team, or have a prominent role, but at this time of the year with only 2 1/2 weeks left there are other priorities. He strikes out less than MLB average and walks much more. He also has an OPS higher than the starter. Yes, I would say fight a different battle considering what time it is.
