And also important to note, that Marte contract is looking like it will turn into a disaster for the Mets. Glad we're not on the hook. BTW, I was skeptical of signing a 35-yo whose biggest tool is speed to a 4 year contract at that time, but I remember most of this board really wanted him and was disappointed when the Mets outbid us.

What do you mean? Marte's .167 avg and .271 SLUG through 7 playoff series in the post season would be awesome ;)

The Astros have 59 runs scored in the 5 Verlander wins (11.8/gm) and 5 runs scored in the 3 losses (1.67/gm)

    Crazy

Now pull up Loperfido or a 1b option in case of Abreau being hurt. Singleton needs to be sent down or let go.

I actually think Singleton has been fine as a bench bat and backup 1B.

I'm not saying I would like to see him start the season next year on the team, or have a prominent role, but at this time of the year with only 2 1/2 weeks left there are other priorities.

He strikes out less than MLB average and walks much more. He also has an OPS higher than the starter.

Yes, I would say fight a different battle considering what time it is.

Earlier today 790 said JV wants Dubon in center when he pitches. Anyone else hear this? They were talking to McTaggert

    ?
    Name OPS
    Abreu 0.655
    Maldy 0.590
    Singleton 0.550

Edit: I don't know if the Astros have better options. The worst thing about SIngleton so far is the choice to play him as much as he has played.

I simply don't understand why JV gives a **** who plays CF behind him. And if anything, maybe Chas takes a better path on that fly ball JV gave up to Oakland. Dubon looked like he got off the teacups at Disney World while tracking that thing.

    Verlander should focus on pitching.

Apparently the Angels are making Trout available. Who do you trade for him in a hypothetical ?
    I would imagine one of Urquidy/Mccullers/Brown + Chas + 1-2 prospects ? + Maldy :D

Maybe that would force them to remodel the batter's eye. Trout does not like hitting at MMP.

Having a higher OPS than the starter is an incredibly low bar.

Is that singletons season ops including his time with the Brewers or just his Astros ops?
