I pride myself in putting guys in a situation where they will most likely succeed — offensively, defensively. -Dusty Baker (5 days ago)
No, the only one that needs to keep his mouth shut is fcking Dusty. Everything he says is asinine as fck, and questioning at best. He might as well say nothing.
The lack of motivation this team has shown in this series....I don't think it matters who is starting. Heck....let Jake lead off and bat Jon 2nd for all I care. Win a damn game. This team has played great on the road but that last road trip to Seattle and Arizona may be Dusty's last week as manager. That's a rough trip.
There is no reason for urgency from the manager, so no reason for urgency for the players. Makes me almost miss Terry Collins.
I've been sick the last couple of days and as much as I'd love to blame Dusty, I don't think he or the boys have anything to do with it. But it would have been nice to have my spirits lifted. Anyway, no way I can make it to starting time, so it's all up to you to cheer on the team.
I'm going to propose a lineup change that I would like to see: 2b Altuve dh Yordan 3b Bregman rf Tucker cf McCormick lf Brantley c Diaz/ ss Pena 1b Abreu ss Pena/ c Maldy I would absolutely love to see Abreu in the 8th spot followed by Pena before the top of the order comes up. Psychologically I think this has an adverse effect on our opposing pitchers. We also have Yordan get chances at more ABs in a game by putting him 2nd and provide Altuve more protection to get fastballs. This also brings Tucker up the lineup for more opportunities as well and splits the L/R matchup. We don't need Pena or other in the 2 hole, we need a guy that can strike fear every time.
I still think Altuve/Yordan/Bregman/Tucker are all going to need some days (not simply half games in blowouts) here/there. Even if its just a DH only day (which Yordan gets plenty of). At least he's sitting Abreu who by all accounts still is going to need days here/there to maintain consistency.
Assuming this is just a planned load management day, I would have preferred Abreu rest on a day in which the Astros have a spare great hitter that can play 1B. It should not be that hard to schedule rest days so Maldy and Abreu aren't off the same day.
Because dusty makes his lineups and bullpen usage far in advance and won't change it based on anything. It doesn't matter if the team is hot or slumping. If a player goes 4-4 and dusty had planned a rest day then so be it.
Can we please.... PLEASE.... have half of our lineup hot at a time and switch off every week? Tired of these 11 run games then zero
Sucks for Scherzer. I never want to wish injury on players. Still though, **** the rangers and their b**** ass fans.
