    He was never a free agent. But I do wish we had kicked the tires on him when Oakland had him on the trade block, but I doubt we'd have matched up with them.

    Neither was Murphy. They were both traded to the Braves. Liam Hendricks, Marcus Semien, Chris Bassitt (after a trade to the Mets), and Mark Canha are the Athletics players who have hit free agency in recent years.
